New Login, Comment and Rating Systems
Hey campers, in an effort to make our site easier to use, and to help you all interact with each other, we've revamped our login, comment and rating systems with some sweet new upgrades - but there are a couple of things you should know.
New login system
Now all of your favorite social networks will log you into CampsitePhotos.com. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to hop on and share your thoughts.
Prior to the update we utilized Google Friend Connect (GFC) to allow comments and ratings. Unfortunately GFC was discontinued by Google in March, leaving us without any of our comments (we can't export anything) and without any of our ratings (those are gone too). We're moving on, and are looking forward to a brighter future with better features that are scalable to what we need (and what you expect!)
Comments are handled by your social network of choice
Commenting on CampsitePhotos.com is now easier than ever. Your comments on photos, campgrounds and blog posts will now contain your username on your chosen social network with a link to your profile, your profile picture and your comment. All nicely formatted within the CampsitePhotos.com template.
And the stars (ratings) function a lot like they used to too.
What does it all mean?
The new features also created some opportunities for us. We're now utilizing some spiffy new code that will allow search engines to index your comments and ratings. This is good for us as we rely on website traffic to pay the bills around here, but it's also good for you because the more you comment, the more exposure you will get.
We hope you'll like the new features, and also hope that you aren't too bummed about losing your comments from the GFC system. We tried hard to salvage what we could but in the end it wasn't possible.
So get out there and comment. We need your help with getting us back where we need to be and BEYOND!
Like (or dislike) the new features? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
