Austin Creek State Recreation Area is next to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and offers a wonderful area to get out and hike through 20 miles of trails featuring old growth redwood trees, beautiful meadows and rolling hills. There is also a variety of wildlife to see here so don’t forget to bring your camera. You may see deer, raccoon, fox, skunk, bobcat, wild pigs, blue herons, quail and maybe even a bear or mountain lion.
Austin Creek campground has 24 campsites set in a beautiful forest redwood forest that provide nice shade to most sites. The campground is close to Bullfrog pound. Campsites are available on a first-come, first served basis and each site has a table, fire ring and grill. There are vault toilets, but no showers available. Water is available at the campground.
