Doughton Park campground has 132 campsites (9 tent only) in 3 loops. The campground has a lantern post, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. Each campsite is well shaded and has a table, fire ring and grill. Doughton Park encompasses 7,000-acres park and is characterized by rolling ridgetop meadows and steep mountainsides. Outdoor recreation includes picnicking, camping, hiking, biking, motor touring and plenty of wildlife viewing. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic byway that follows the high crests of the central and southern Appalachians for 469 miles from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina.
