Lakes Basin Campground is located in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area, 9 miles southwest of Graegle, California. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and hiking at Gold Lake, just 2 miles away. The area was formed by glaciers and is characterized by breathtaking mountain scenery--most notably the craggy peaks of the Sierra Buttes and over 20 natural glacial lakes, most of which are accessible by well maintained hiking trails. Outdoor recreation activities in the area include: camping, fishing, boating, hunting, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, hiking, backpacking, swimming, windsurfing and nature study.
The campground sits at an elevation of 6,400 feet among fir and aspen trees in a field of granite boulders.
