Smokey Bear Camping Guide

7034-foot elevation. 12 campsites on beautiful Alturas Lake. Spend sunny summer days fishing for trout, waterskiing, sailing, motor boating, swimming, and picnicking by the lake. Group picnic area on the east side of the campground. Canoeing and fishing on nearby Perkins Lake. Trails at the end of Forest Road 205 lead into the Sawtooth Wilderness. An amphitheater is available for group events or for interpretive programs. Boat ramp and trailer parking area. Located in a lodgepole pine understory. Location: From Stanley, go south 21 miles on ID 75, then west about 2.5 miles on Forest Road 205.
