Keep in mind that the free admission policy will not cover fees related to camping, boating, shuttles, tours, and other activities.

Whether you plan on visiting on one of the free days or any other day, you should plan well in advance. Many National Parks also require you to make a reservation to enter the park. Park entry reservations are $2 and can be made at recreation.gov.

To help with your planning, you might also consider getting the National Park Service app. It helps to streamline the experience at any of the nation’s 423 National Park locations by consolidating information on hiking trails, lodging, news alerts, dining options, and more.
