What is Campsite Assist and How Does It Work?

Campsite Assist is an advanced online tool that finds available campsites when someone cancels a reservation at sold-out campgrounds. Users receive alerts (via text and email) when a campsite becomes available. The alert also includes a link to the reservation website or availability results page so you can try and reserve the campsite.

Types of Availability Alert Scans

Campsite Assist currently offers two types of scans – a “Specific Scan” and a “Matrix Scan”.

With the Specific Scan you choose an exact arrival date and length of stay for one campground. You’ll also have the option to select the scanning frequency (every 3 minutes, 13 minutes or 33 minutes). A text & email alert will be sent if a campsite becomes available for your specific arrival date and length of stay.

The Matrix Scan allows you to scan for availability at one campground within a set date range (up to 7 days). You’ll also have the option to select the scanning frequency (every 15, 45, or 90 minutes).  A text & email alert will be sent if a campsite becomes available for any duration during your date range.

If you’re a frequent camper, you can also purchase a Scan Pack and save up to 40%.

In addition to Washington State Parks campgrounds, Campsite Assist provides availability alerts for most of the other State Parks and National Parks. Campsite Assist also scans for available campsites at thousands of Forest Service and other campgrounds in the United States.
