Temperance River State Park Overview
Temperance River State Park has 2 campgrounds (Upper and Lower) next to the river and along the shore of Lake Superior. There are 60 single-family campsites (18 with electrical hookups), including 6 cart-in sites.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 60 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, vault toilets and hot showers. Ice and firewood are also available for sale at the park’s nature store.
Temperance River State Park – Area Recreation & Info
The park features the Temperance River/Gorge with waterfalls set among a forest of pine, spruce, cedar and birch forests. There are great hiking trails, wildlife viewing, rock climbing opportunities, and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.
You may also like Tettegouche State Park to the south or Cascade River State Park to the north.

Any sites empty for August 19-21? 34 foot motorhome

Unfortunately, Temperance River State Park campground is sold out Aug 19-21. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check other availability, pricing and make reservations. Best of luck!
We have reserved site #52. Will it accommodate 45 adults and 2 tents?
More than one car?
Hi Martha,
The campsite is designated for 1 vehicle and up to 6 people. However the parking pad length is 50 feet, so the camp host should let 2 vehicles park there (you’ll just need to pay an extra nightly fee for 2nd vehicle). The tent pad is listed as 12×12, but there looks like plenty of room for 2 tents.
This campground was phenomenal!!! The hiking opportunities and scenery were awesome!! The Temperance River gorge was really incredible and we were so impressed with views and spacious campsites ( upper campground, especially) and the bathroom facilities were incredible and do impeccably taken care of. We’ll be back for sure.
