Rainbow Campground – Big Lake Recreation Area – has 153 campsites and located in a forested area next to the 450-acre Big Lake in eastern Arizona at an elevation of 9,100 feet. Campsites 46-86 have water & electric hookups. The campground has 6 loops and includes 4 double sites that can accommodate up to 16 people each. Most sites are reservable, but campsites 130-152 (Loop F) are first-come, first-serve.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Some campsites have a sloped parking area. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, trash collection and a dump station.  A few shared food storage lockers are also scattered about the campground.  A small store is also nearby that sells gas, food, boat rentals and firewood. Cell service is poor in the area.

Rainbow – Big Lake Recreation Area

Big Lake is one of Arizona’s top fishing lakes with opportunities to catch rainbow, cutthroat, brook and Apache trout. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, birding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Grayling, Brookchar, Cutthroat and Apache Trout. Luna Lake Campground is also nearby.
