Roper Lake State Park campground has 51 campsites and 8 cabins situation in 3 loops next to Roper Lake.   Hacienda loop has 20 sites with water and 20/30 amp electric, Cottonwood loop has 25 sites with water and 20/30/50 amp electric, and Gila loop has 8 cabins, 5 non-electric sites and a 14-site group camp area. Each campsites also has a table fire ring and grate.

The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. There is also a boat ramp (limited to small electric and/or non motorized vessels), visitor center, picnic area, day use area and gift shop/camp store.

Campsite check in is 2PM and check out is at noon.

Roper Lake State Park – Area Recreation

Roper Lake has some great fishing for  Rainbow Trout and Largemouth Bass. Visitors can also enjoy five miles of trails, bird watching, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

You might want to check out Cholla campground. It’s located Theodore Roosevelt Lake about  121 miles north and has 206 campsites. Other campgrounds within an hour or so include Bonita Canyon and Kartchner Caverns State Park.

  1. Just stayed overnight here on the way to & from the White Mountains. This campground is supposed to Feature the lake, but you can’t see it from the campsites- even those right Next To the lake, like 13 & 14- Because of the Thick layer of brush & coattails surrounding the shore! I understand that Some brush, etc is good for the Environment, but surely it could be Thinned enough for Campers to enjoy views of the lake from their campsites??
    Also, the campground map we were given upon arrival had Different Numbers or Letters assigned to the Sites compared with those identifying Your Photos, which is very confusing!
