White Spar campground is just a few miles from the town of Prescott and has 56 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. The campground is open year-round, with most sites available to reserve during the winter season (November through March). A few sites are also first-come-first serve. It is closed during “snow events.” No hookups are available anytime during the year.

There are 4 double campsites in the campground and all roads/parking spurs are paved. Campsites 32-41 are best suitable for tent camping. There are also 5 pull-through site, 34- back-in and 17 parallel parking pads.  Check in time is 2PM and check out is 12PM. Quiet time is from 10pm to 6am.

The campground also has potable/drinking water (turned off during winter months) and vault toilets. Firewood is available from the campground host. Cell service is good in the area.

Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. There are 5 pull-through sites, 34 back-in and 17 parallel parking sites. None have hookups. Our favorite White Spar campsites are: 8, 9, 13, 19, 20, 23, 30, 32, 33, 55 and 56.

My wife and I would like to tent camp Nov 10 and Nov 11 departing am Nov 12 2019. Is it first come first serve and what sites are open to use during non peak season?

    • Hi Scott,
White Spar campground is open year-round, with most sites available to reserve during the winter season (November through March). A few sites are also first-come-first serve. It is closed during “snow events.” You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing and make a reservation. I just checked for Nov 10-11 and there are 4 sites (2, 4, 5 and 8) that are available by reservation and campsite 1 (an ADA / Handicap Site) is also available on first-come, first-serve.

Thank you for your information. We will camp at site 8 for our 2 day visit. We do not know what the site looks like but chose it on your recommendation. We hope it is not a site where you must step up and down. What time is check in and check out? Again we appreciate your response to our questions.

Dates of stay: Oct. 27 – Nov. 6, 2019 Price reflects 50% Access Pass discount, regular price $10

Campground/Campsite: No hookups, water in park, pit toilets, dumpsters. This campground is not entirely big-rig friendly. We used satellite computer mapping when reserving our space, and we were very happy in full sun for our solar. It appeared that our site #6 was the only one with full sun as well as being the only pull-thru. On Nov. 1, all but the area we were in closed for the year. All campsites were reserved during our stay, but a big cold snap kept everyone from showing up, so be advised that late October appears to be an otherwise busy time. Camp hosts are onsite. There are several trails with easy access from the park offering a wide variety of distances.

Location: This campground is mere minutes — and a straight shot — from charming downtown Prescott, where you can find all the amenities you need as well as miles of lovely walking and biking trails. It is close to the main road, so there will be some road noise, mostly during the day.

Other: OATV, Verizon cell service was often 4G/LTE 2 bars, but would sometimes drop to 3G service

Critters spotted: tarantulas, Juncos, Acorn Woodpeckers (everywhere! trees riddled with their stored food!)

  4. Can I get a map of the campgrounds? I’m not sure where the bathrooms are.
    Thank you
