Big Cove Campground has 38 single-family campsites located near the shores of Frenchman Lake and in a lush pine forest in the Plumas National Forest. A few campsites have views of Frenchman Lake and others look over a sagebrush meadow.

There are also 14 first-come, first-serve (dispersed) campsites available across the road from the main campground. A vault toilet is available, but not water. Campsites have a table, but no fire pit.

The campsites in the main campground are reservable and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Most campsites are level and large. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($). Overflow parking is also available. No cell service available.

Big Cove – Area Recreation

Nearby Frenchman Lake was created in 1962 when the California Department of Water Resources dammed Little Las Chance Creek. The shoreline is 21 miles and has become a great place to boat, fish, explore and play. During the summer, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, wildlife viewing, water skiing, jet skiing and other water sports. Winter activities range from snowmobiling to ice fishing and cross-country skiing.

Two other campgrounds in the area include Spring Creek and Frenchman.

We reserved out campsite months in advance (8).It was suposed to accommodate up to 12 ppl . And have shade.
IT DID WITH ROOM TO SPARE. WE HAD ELBOW ROOM BETWEEN SITES .AND MULTIPLE TRAILS TO THE BEACH ON THE LAKE INCLUDING A PAVED TRAIL WITH LESS OF INCLINE.
The Host were beyound accommodating and kept the bathrooms clean and could be seen at various times around the campgrounds .
We encountered deer and Steer upclose n person every day and was a thrill of the trip.
There is no electricity in the showers or bathrooms on cell phone reception of any type . Showers are $2 for 3mins. And you are a short drive from a store that is reasonably priced.
Only down side is we wished due to the abundance of wild life there were food lockers and more trash receptacles.
Our 4day 3 night adventure was toomuch fun we will be back
