Contrary to what you may have heard or read, Buckhorn Campground is no secret. It’s a popular campground located at about 6,300 feet in the beautiful Angeles National Forest above Los Angeles. Check out all of the campsite photos for Buckhorn Campground and you’ll see it is quite the gem.  Our favorite Buckhorn campsites are 7, 8, 15, 18, 22, 23 and 27.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs. The campground is also located close to the Mt. Waterman “ski” area off the Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2). The Buckhart Trailhead is located at the campground and connects to a large network of National Recreation Trails in the area.

The Angeles National Forest is just north of the Los Angeles basin and offers a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, biking and wildlife viewing.

Buckhorn is a good spot in late Summer and early Fall, too. There are bears! Put the food away and don’t leave trash out. Not much to look but there are lots of beautiful trees and it’s pretty quiet at night. Take a hike along part of the Pacific Trail and enjoy the fresh cool air.
