Carlton (Carlton Flat) Campground has 17 single-family campsites located along the banks of the North Yuba River and adjacent to Highway 49 in the Tahoe National Forest. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs. Each site also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate.

Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Carlton – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There are also some nice OHV trails in the area. The North Yuba River Trail can also be accessed from the nearby Rocky Rest trailhead.

You may also like Fiddle Creek, Rocky Rest, or Wild Plum campgrounds.

    I love this campground!!! My husband and I stayed for a week last year, it was great! I am planning a solo trip again this year 🙂 Can’t wait!! Definitely my happy place!
