China Flat Campground has 24 first-come, first-serve campsites in a forested area next to the Silver Fork American River. Five of the campsites (W1-W5) are walk to / tent only. The walk-to sites are over the bridge and ranging from about 200 to 350 feet from the gear drop off area. Parking for the walk-to sites is back near the campground entrance.

The campsites with parking spurs can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Parking spurs range in size from 20 to 60 feet.  Campsite #2 is a double-family site. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Cell service is not available.

Other campgrounds in the area include Lovers Leap, Wrights Lake and Bridal Veil Group.

China Flat Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Harvey West Cabin (historic / heritage site) is also over by the day use area. It was built in the 1930s and is currently undergoing restoration.
