Emerald Bay State Park (Eagle Point Campground)  has 97 campsites and overlooks Emerald Bay and beautiful Lake Tahoe.   The campground has two loops – Upper Eagle Point (campsites 1-33) and Lower Eagle Point (campsites 34-100). Hookups are not available.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and smalls RVs). The parking spurs are listed as being 18 feet in length. Some parking spurs are smaller and a few others have an overhang of a few feet that could fit a rig up to 20 feet.

Check out our list of favorite campsites. The Eagle Point campsites with a view of the water include: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34p, 35p, 36p, 37p, 38p, 39p, 40p, 41-50, 56p, 58, 59p, 61, 62p, 63, 65-70, 71p, 72, 73p, 74-79, 80p, 81p, 82p, 86. Sites with a ‘p’ indicate ‘partial’ view.

There are 45 tent only campsites and some are up to 80 feet from the vehicle parking area. Some tent only and standard campsites are designated as ‘premium’ generally because of views. Additional ‘boat-in’ campsites are also available on a first-come first-serve basis. Each campsite also has a food storage locker/bear box, table, BBQ pedestal, fire ring and grate.

Depending on the campsite, you can 1 or 2 vehicles per site and up to 4 or 8 people per site. Most campsites can only have 1 vehicle due to size of parking pad/area. All vehicle wheels need to be on the paved parking spur. Overflow parking for campers is available in the lot next to the campfire center. Check ReserveCalifornia (‘Make A Reservation’ button) regarding vehicle and camper limits per campsite.

Amenities

Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers ($) and drinking water. There is no dump station or hookups at Eagle Point Campground.  Firewood and ice are also available for sale at the campground. Cell service is fair in the areas.

Emerald Bay State Park is also adjacent to D.L. Bliss State Park. Meeks Bay is another campground in the area.

Emerald Bay State Park – Area Recreation

With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world. Vikingsholm, a replica of a Scandinavian castle (800 A.D.), is part of the Park.  Tours are also available of this 38-room mansion. Hikers can head into nearby Desolation Wilderness or walk the rugged lakeshore to D.L. Bliss along the Rubicon Trail. There is also a trail from the campground to Emerald Bay (about 1/2 mile).

Emerald Bay State Park – Dogs

Dogs are not allowed in most areas in Emerald Bay State Park including beaches, dirt trails, service roads from highway 89 going down into Emerald Bay, Boat camp, the Rubicon Trail, Vikingsholm and Fanette Island.   They are allowed within the two campgrounds only—the Boat Camp paved campground loop and Eagle Point paved campground road. They are also allowed on boats and at the vista overlook at the Vikingsholm Trail parking lot.

  1. Sylvie Graham says:

What is a premium tent campsite versus regular?

    • Hi Sylvie,
Good question! At Emerald Bay State Park (Eagle Point Campground), some of the tent only and standard campsites are designated as ‘premium’ generally because of views (and usually of the Lake Tahoe).

  2. Hi,
We have reserved 2 sites in July. #’s 21 and 23. Will a cabover camper fit on one and a tent trailer on the other?
    Thank you,
    Steve

  3. We reserved campsite 4
#49 and we are wondering if 2 tents could comfortably fit and if that site is sloped in any way?

    • Hi Shannon,
Emerald Bay campsites #4 and #49 both will fit two tents. Both campsites have flat tent pad areas, but site #49 tent pad areas are a little smaller (than #4). Hope that helps!

  4. Hi, I reserved campsite 89, will I be able to put 2 small tents up? Can we also bring 2 cars?

    • Hi Leah,
Emerald Bay State Park campground allows two vehicles and 8 people per site. Campsite 89 does have room for two tents, perhaps one more. The parking area looks to be large enough to fit two vehicles as well.

  5. Hi, my family and I just reserved campsite #27, I noticed the tent pad dimensions are listed as 12×12. The tent we have is a 14×10, will this fit or do I need a new smaller tent?

  6. Christie Hall says:

Hi, my family and I just reserved campsite #32 in Upper Eagle Point, I noticed the tent pad dimensions are listed as 6×6. The tent we have is a 11×9, will this fit or do I need a new smaller tent? Thanks.

    • Hi Christie,

An 11×9 tent in Emerald Bay State Park campsite #32 (Upper Eagle Point) may be tight. It might barely fit in from to food storage locker or other side of the table, but not sure. Might be a good idea to bring up a smaller tent if you can. Hope all works out for you and have a great time up there!

      • Christie Hall says:

Thank you for the info! We had a wonderful time. And just as an FYI for anyone else reading this thread, there was plenty of space for our 11×9 tent. Site #32 was a little loud because it’s in front of the bathrooms and dumpster.

  7. Delane Nelson says:

Hi! We have reserved site #4. We were hoping to rent a trailer. Would a trailer that’s 18 feet and a vehicle fit?

    • Hi Delane,
Yes, you will be able to fit your 18-foot trailer and vehicle in campsite #4 (Upper Eagle) at Emerald Bay State Park. You may have to park them side by side, but there’s room. Have a great trip!

  8. lori walker says:

Hello! We are arriving July 23rd and staying for 2 nights. We reserved two ADA sites (#79 and #96). We need to release one because only 5-6 of us are available to camp (3 tents?). Which of the two sites do you recommend for the most private, the closest to the lake and largest space. My dad is 91 and semi mobile but not able too hike too far.

    • Hi Lori,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #79 is a little larger (and maybe a little flatter) than campsite #96. Both are about the same distance to the restrooms/showers, and both are about the same distance to the lake (about 1/2 mile from campsites to water – via a trail). The trail is a little steep though, so not sure if your dad could swing it. You may also have some ‘peak’ views of Lake Tahoe from both campsites. Hope this helps. You can also click on the ‘campground map’ button to check where the sites are in the campground.

      • Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I am truly appreciative of your excellent customer service.

Do you happen to know which site has more privacy?

      • You are most welcome and thank you Lori.
I’d say they are about the same on the privacy factor. Site #96 does have a little more space between campsites (and a few more trees), but is a bit closer to the restroom facilities. Site #79 has a little walkway for people to access the restrooms.

      • Hi, I have one more campsite we are looking into. Between
#92, #96, and #79 which have the most trees, the most privacy and best suited for three 2-person (5×7) tents?
and which would be your person favorite?
        Thank you!

      • Way to go Lori!
We’d lead toward campsites 92 or 96 at Emerald Bay State Park!

      • lori padelford says:

Hello, We have the option to change our reservation to #75 or #87 from #92. What is the order of your preference for these campsites and why. We value privacy and shade. We will have three two person tents. One minivan. One Jeep. Thank you.

      • Hi Lori,

You may get a little more privacy at site #87, but it won’t have any shade and it’s a small site (to fit your 3 tents). Emerald Bay State Park campsite #75 is larger (plenty of room for your 3 tents), has some shade, and the privacy won’t be too bad either. So – we’d lean toward campsite #75 based on your preferences, etc. Have fun!

      • Thank you answering so may questions. Your support is so valuable and very much appreciated!

  9. Hi. We reserved the campsite #20 for two families. Will our tents (10×10 and 13×8) fit there? And how flat is the area? Thank you.

  10. Gillian Estes says:

We’re camping in late July, with site #47 reserved. Is there enough space there for two tents?

    • Yes – you will be able to fit two tents at Emerald Bay State Park Campsite #47. Have fun!

      • Thank you for your helpful replies! Can you kindly tell me whether #47 has any shade, flat ground, and privacy? I see it is next to a bathroom but cannot tell by the picture if I should expect a lot of noise or odor. We will have 2 tents. Many thanks!

      • Hi Sheila,
Campsite #48 is right next door, so you’ll probably get to know your neighbors. And you’re right that the restroom is on the other side of your site so you’ll get some foot traffic to that. Not sure about the odor though. Lastly, the site has a fair amount of sun exposure – not much shade until early or later in day.

      • F/u question – for site #47 are tents restricted to area within rocks? It appears tight and close to the food area. Thank you!!

      • Hi Sheila,
Not positive about that (within the rock area), but the tent pad area is listed as 12 feet long by 10 feet wide. Other sites don’t have the rock border area so not sure why campsite #47 has one. The ultimate call comes from the camp host.

  11. Gillian Estes says:

Hi, there is a group of us (5 people) camping in site #47 late this July. Is there enough room for two tents in this site? It’s a little hard to tell from the picture of site 47!

  12. I booked campsite #22. What size tents would fit at the site? Can we fit 4 tents? Is there a lot of yellow bee at this location?

    • Hello Jim!

It might be tough to fit 4 tents in campsite #22 at Emerald Bay State Park (Eagle Point). That site is mostly to the right of the parking pad and includes a bit of a hill. The table, fire ring and a tent pad area is up to the right. There’s also some room at the end of the parking pad, but not sure how close that gets to the next campsite. Also remember than a maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 people are allowed per campsite.

  13. Kathleen Milford says:

I’ve booked two campsites for mid July, #46 and #48. #46 looks to be very small with a 10 X 10 flat pad for the tent but I cant see the fire ring or bear locker and I assume its down the slope a bit. For site 48, will it accomodate to larger tents at 12 by 12 and parking for one car and a small utility trailer unhitched?

    • Hi Kathleen,

Yes, the table and fire ring for campsite #46 is tucked up around the corner – behind tree – up the little hill. Campsite #48 will accommodate larger tents (12×12). Hope this helps!

  14. Whitney Smith says:

I’ve reserved campsite # 31 which is listed as “small.” There will be 4 of us camping and we’d like to use 2 tents. Will we be able to fit 2 four-person tents on this site? Thanks!

    • Hi Whitney,
Fitting two four-person tents at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #31 will be very tight. If they do fit, one of them may be very close to fire ring and or table.

  15. We reserved campsite 41. Will it comfortably fit 2 families of 4 and their 2 tents?

    • Hi Caeebe,
Campsite #41 at Emerald Bay State Park has limited space and may not fit two large tents. I doubt you’ll be able to fit the two large tents in that campsite.

  16. Hi –
I’ve booked campsite 30 and campsite 69, but due to cancellations in my party only need one of them. Which would you recommend? Is 69 right next to the bathroom (and noisy)? Thanks!

    • Good question Bill. The folks at CampsitePhotos.com would lean toward site #30 at Emerald Bay State Park because it has a bit more privacy and a much better view up by the fire ring area.

  17. I booked site 97. In the picture it doesn’t look big enough, can it accommodate 2 tents (6-person) and 2 cars.

  18. Dear Ranger, I reserved campsite 34 for early August. I was wondering if it is big enough to fix two 6-person tents, and two minivans? Also, how much for how long can we shower at the campsite?

    • Alyssa Edwards says:

      Hi Kit,
Yes, you’ll be able to fit two minivans on the parking pad at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #34. You can definitely fit two smaller tents (4 person) to the left of the parking pad, but it may be rather tight to fit two 6-person tents at that campsite.

  19. I love this service and the rangers who respond! They are fast, accurate, very honest and friendly.

  20. Hi,
I was wondering if there are there may bears or bees in your neck of the woods this year? Thanks!

  21. Hi,
Is #22 boat campsite. Is this enough room for two tents and two families?

Also – What about #53..same question?

    • Hi AJ,

Unfortunately we don’t have pictures or info for the boat-in campsites at Emerald Bay State Park. Hopefully we’ll be able to get those this fall. Sorry we couldn’t help.

  22. Hi there,

Thank you for answering these questions, very helpful. I see all these comments about the campsite size…. We have spot 29 and have a 6 person tent with an 8 x 10 floor plan with a fairly large vestibule. We’ll be camping with two small children. Will our tent fit in this space? Any advice much appreciated. Thank you!

    • Wow – what a beautiful campsite you scored EFG! Emerald Bay State Park campsite #29 will work with an 8×10 tent. And the vestibule should work fine too. Have a great time!

  23. Claudia Terrien says:

Hi, we camped last year at Emerald Bay state park and we loved it. This time, we booked campsite 070 and I’m wondering if we can have 2 tents. Thanks!

  24. Jonathan Miller says:

Hey– Campsite 58, will it fit tents? One of them large?

  25. Hello, we just booked the campsite #87. Couple of questions, 1. It says the camp pad is away from the rest of it? Would it be hard to navigate with littles? One is 4, the other is 9. Second question: How big is the plague threat really? Do I have to worry about any animal borrows along the path between the table/parking spot to where the tent actually is? Would it be safe to bring our dog? Thank you so much!!

    • Hi Kate,

Emerald Bay State Park campsite #87 is about a 75 foot walk from the vehicle parking area. The walk is on a trail that should be no problem for your 4 and 9 year old.
Presently there is no bubonic plague threat in the Tahoe area, including Emerald Bay State Park. There are burrowing animals, but nothing you should be concerned about. Your dog will be fine, but must be on leash at all times.
      Hope this info helps!

      • Thank you for the quick response! One more question, Our tent is approx 14’x16′ Would this fit in the tent pad?

      • Hi Kate,

Unfortunately we did not measure the area for campsite #87. From the photo, it appears a 14′ x 16′ foot tent will fit, but you may need to move the table around a little.

  26. We currently have 2 different sites reserved for this weekend (Sat & Sun) but will need to cancel one of the nights, which site is better and offers more privacy because I know both are located near bathrooms, #44 or #56?

    • Hi Steph,

That’s a tough one, but I’d lean toward Emerald Bay State Park campsite #56 as being a little more private than #44. Site #56 has a little more room between neighbors, although site #44 has a little more vegetation (for privacy). Also site #56 is nice and flat, with more room. Hope this helps!

  27. Michelle says:

I have reserved campsite #51. How many people does it hold?

  28. Hello,
We booked site #80 which is listed as small, someone told me is a 6×6 pad for tent…we only have one tent but is more like approx. 10×8 , would we have space for it? From the photo shown is not clear. Also, from the photo is not clear if there is a picnic table, can you please confirm? Further, how is the shade/privacy?
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

    G

    • HI GPF,

You’ll have some nice shade from the big pines at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #80, and it does have a picnic table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker. Unfortunately the angle of the photo doesn’t show you the tent pad area (we’ll try and get that re-photographed later this year). I’d go by the 6×6 pad listing for the tent size. Not sure if there will be enough extra room to fit your 10×8 tent.

      • Thank you very much ranger, great info! One last question, is the picnic table movable ? In case there is an option to make more space moving the table.

      • Hi GPF,

You’re welcome and another good question (about the picnic tables being movable). Some tables are all wood and movable, but other sites have cement legs and are not movable. Unfortunately we can not see the table in the photo of campsite #80, so I’m not much help with your site. Sorry about that.

  29. Christine G says:

Staying in 72 soon. Will we need a pop up for shade and is there any view of the water?
    Thanks

  30. Sean Healy says:

What are the dimensions of the bear lockers? I want to make sure that my cooler will fit inside.

  31. Sean Healy says:

I am staying at Upper Eagle Campground (Emerald Bay) and wanted to know the dimensions of the bear lockers. I want to make sure our cooler will fit inside.

  32. Hello – how do we know which sites can accommodate a trailer? It’s hard to tell on the reservation website. Also, can you take a 23 ft. trailer? thank you!

    • Hi Laura,
Yes, ReserveCalifornia still isn’t too user friendly with information. Generally the ‘premium’ campsites (listed on ReserveCalifornia) at Emerald Bay State Park can fit a 22-23 foot trailer.

  33. Hi – Can you tell me which campsites can accomodate a 22 ft trailer? thank you!

    • Hi Laura,

If you click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button you’ll be directed to the ReserveCalifornia website where you can check availability, pricing, site sizes and make a reservation.

  34. Hi, I just booked site #57. I have a small (16′) trailer. Looking at the picture, it appears this will fit ok. Can you confirm for me? I usually back the trailer in, disconnect and park my truck at an angle to fit in on the pad. Thanks, Paul

    • Hi Paul,
Yes – your 16′ trailer should fit fine at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #57. The pad length is 8 feet wide by 18 feet long (with extra overhang in the rear / dirt area).

  35. Is Campsite 033 big enough for two decent sized tents?

  36. John B. Camping says:

Is campsite #86 gone this year? It’s been removed from the reservecalifornia.com availability search

  37. Hi,
We will be coming to Lake Tahoe next summer. We will be 4 people with 2 small tents and 1 vehicle. We have seen camping sites # 49 – # 72 – # 78 – # 87.
What are the differences between these 4 sites?
Do they all have a view of the lake?
    Thank you

    • Hi Marc,
Yes, all four of the Emerald Bay State Park campsites you mentioned have views of the Lake Tahoe, some more than others. Of course she 72 has stairs that you’ll climb to the tent/table area. Sites 78 and 87 are a tad larger and flatter. Hope this helps!

  38. Danielle says:

This is a great site with info. We booked site 75 and it says it’s premium. Is it facing the lake? It doesn’t appear to be. We have an opportunity to book a different date and get site 44. Is one more ideal for a family of five? My daughter is allergic to bees. Is it typically a big problem there? I read you have had major wasp issues and checking in on both. Thanks so much!

    • Hi Danielle,
Emerald Bay State Park campsites #75 is premium because it is one of the larger sites, flat and has some nice space/privacy between other sites. It is on the inside of the loop and may have a glimpse of the water, but doubtful. Site 44 does not have a view of the lake and you need to walk up a little (from parking spur) to get to the table/tent area. Hope this helps!

  39. kat alves says:

Wondering if site #74 can fit two family sized tents and 8 people? Does it have a lake view?
    Thanks so much!

    • Hi Kat,
Yes – Emerald Bay State Park campsite #74 can fit two tents. One in the table/fire ring area, and there’s another area to the left of the parking spur. It is located right on the ridge and you may be able to see the lake from the site or by walking a little bit. Hope this helps.

  40. We are eyeing a site at Emerald Bay in July. We have a small truck camper (18 feet) and one tent. Can any site accommodate this setup, including a tent-only site? Thank you.

    • HI Adam,

The tent-only sites at Emerald Bay State Park may be a little inconvenient and tight (parking spur) for your small trucker camper, but all of the standard sites would work fine. And of course the ‘boat-in’ sites wouldn’t work 😉

  41. Hi there. We reserved sites 71 and 91…do they both accommodate trailers 18ft and under? Thanks!

    • Hi Anu,
Emerald Bay Campsite #71 has a parking pad size of 8 feet wide by 18 feet long. Site #91 is 15 feet wide by 18 feet long. They would both accommodate trailers under 18 feet, but site #71 would not fit a trailer and towing vehicle (side by side or nose to nose). Site #91 should be able to fit the towing vehicle and trailer (side by side, but not nose to nose).

  42. Kathy Lee says:

    Hi,
Does #81 site have a view of the water? Thank you!

    • Hi Kathy,
Emerald Bay State Park Campsie #81 doesn’t quite have a view of the water from the campsite, but you can walk up just above the site and see the water.

  43. Wendy McConnell says:

Hello. Does campsite #59 have enough room for two (4 person) tents? Is it difficult to get to the beach? Thank you!

    • Hello Wendy,
Yes – Emerald Bay State Park campsite #59 does have enough room for two (4 person) tents! And it’s just a 1/2 mile walk to the beach. Have a great time!

  44. Christine Wright says:

    Hi,
We have two campsites reserved 46 and 49 for tent’s only. Which campsite has room for one 6 person and one 4 person tent?
    Thank you

    • Hi Christine,
Campsite #49 is a bit larger (can fit up to 8 people/2 vehicles), and would be best for one 6 person tent. Campsite #46 can accommodate up to 8 people and 1 car. With that said – you can probably fit a 6 person tent in either site.

      • Christine Wright says:

Thank you! Which site has better view of the lake? More privacy?#46 or #49?
        Thanks for your help

  45. Could tell me if there are any sites in the lower campground that can accommodate a 17′ trailer and a SUV, or can the car be park someplace else?

    • Hi Mario,
Most of the Emerald Bay State Park campsite pads in the lower section of the campground are 8 feet wide by 18 feet long. There’s a few with a wider pad area and they include the following:
Site 3: (15×18), Site 9: (16×18), Site 11 (25×18), Site 12 (17×18), Site 16 (12×18), and Site 24 (11×18). So a few of those sites will work for your trailer and parking your SUV along side it.

      • Thank you for your quick reply, but I was thinking of a site on the Lower Eagle Point (campsites 34-100) How is the lake’s view from the upper area?

      • Hi Mario,
Some of the sites in the upper area of Emerald Bay State Park have nice views of the lake. You can check dimensions of each site by clicking on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button. It will direct you to ReserveCalifornia’s website. From there – enter ‘Emerald Bay State Park’ and dates you’d like to camp. You can click on each site to view dimensions of the parking area, etc.

  46. Brian Sullivan says:

    Hi,
We campsite #41 which indicates on some of the information to only allow 1 vehicle and 8 people, but I see several comments mentioning that all sites include 2 vehicles??? Is it just that you have to pay for the 2nd vehicle?

    Thanks

    • HI Brian,
Emerald Bay State Park campsites can have 1-2 vehicles per site and up to 4-8 people per site (depending on the site). Most campsites can only have 1 vehicle due to size of parking pad/area. Vehicles must be parked on the paved parking spur. We are not aware that the campground will permit extra vehicles (for a fee) in a 1-vehicle site.

  47. We have a small tab trailer and Tacoma pickup truck. Will we be able to park the (15′) Tab and truck in site #30 (side by side?), or is there parking for the truck elsewhere in the campground? We will also be doing a couple nights in the backcountry after our stay– do you have recommendations for day use parking for the Tab trailer? We are taking at Echo lake trailhead in to Lake Aloha, and heard parking was tight at that trailhead…

    • Hi Ginny,
The parking pad at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #30 is 8 feet wide by 18 feet in length. All vehicle/trailer tires are required to be on the pavement. With that said, you won’t be able to park side-by-side, but you may just have enough room to fit everything tail to nose. You should have a few extra feet on the length/overhang toward the pack of the parking pad area.

      • Thanks so much–really appreciate your help, and looking forward to a wonderful stay!

  48. Hello —

We have site #26 which is a small premium spot. We have a 6 person tent and the max number of people for this site is 4. However we’ll be camping our tree small children. Do you that this will be an issue? Will the park strictly enforce the max number of people allowed per site? Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you!

    • Hi Sarah,

You should be okay with three small children included in your group of 6 people. However, if there is a complaint – the ranger will most likely enforce the letter of the law (park policy) regarding only 4 people allowed at campsite #26.

      • Thank you for the prompt response, and my apologies for all of the typos.

I should’ve been more clearer, there will only be five of us. My husband, our three kids, and myself. (5 total in a 6 person tent).

From you’re response, I think we should be fine. Thank you, again! 🙂

  49. Looking at reserving campsite #42 or #80 – any idea which one has the better view? Or any view at all? Thanks!

    • Hi Jane,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #42 won’t have any water view; campsite #80 may have a peak. FYI – too late for this year, but in the fall we’re going to get new photos of each campsite and also include ‘view’ shots from the camp table area.

  50. Are the campground open mid-July and if they are what COVID restrictions are in place?
    Thank you.

  51. Emerald Bay State Park is still closed, but we’re hoping it’ll be open by late June. The State of California has not made a decision on an reopening date and have left it up to the individual Counties to decide if social distancing is in place. When the state park campgrounds are open, they may be operating at only 50% capacity with social distancing restrictions in place (like one person in the bathroom at a time).

  52. We have a reservation at Site 008 this August. Will it fit a 22ft trailer?

    • Hi Mel,
The pad length of campsite #8 at Emerald Bay State Park is 18 feet and the width is 8 feet. That doesn’t include a little hoverhang/border on the outside of the paved area. Not sure if your trailer and vehicle will fit nose to nose, but you may have room to fit side by side, or angle your towing vehicle at the front. The ultimate call will come from the camp host.

  53. Can I have two tents in campsite #85? I know it is for RV…

    • Hi Kami,
Emerald Bay State Park Campsite #85 can have one vehicle and has a tent pad area that is 15×15 feet. You may be able to get two small tents in that pad area and are allowed to do so. Have a great time!

  54. Jessica Corzo says:

    I booked sites #21 & #84.

Can two tents fit in one site?
21: one tent for 2 people
    84: 2 tents for 8 people.

    • Hi Jessica, Emerald Bay campsites #21 and #84 can have two vehicles and 8 people each. #21 has a 10×10 tent pad area and #84 tent pad area is 10×20 (so yes to two tents).

  55. Ashley Perry says:

We just booked site#78. Does it face the lake? Also, does it have a table and grill by chance? How many tents can fit? It is so hard to tell what the site looks like from the picture. Are there any other photos by chance?

    • Hi Ashley,
You should have a view of the water/lake from Emerald Bay State Park site #78. It has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker. You can fit two tents, and maybe 3 in that site. The site is also designated for one vehicle and up to 8 people.

  56. Hi, can you tell me if there are any water views on sites 43, 38 or 34?

  57. Hello,
How is the privacy in site #30?

  58. We have reserved sites 12, 13 & 16 for next weekend. Wondering a couple of things. Can we fit 3 tents and 4 cars if we just have 12 & 13 (our people count will be 9 total)? If not, we will keep our reservation for site 16 too. Also, is there any parking down at the beach or do we have to walk down there? How far is the walk?

    • Hi Marie,
Emerald Bay State Park Campsites #12 and #13 can fit 2 vehicles and 8 people per site. Also, you’ll be able to fit two tents in each site . . . so you should be good to go (if you want to cancel #16)!

      • Thank you for the reply! How is the walk to and from the beach from the upper campground?

      • You’re welcome – and sorry, forgot about the hike. There is a trail from the campground to Emerald Bay. It’s a little more than 1/2 mile, so not bad.

  59. Karley Higginbotham says:

Hello, I reserved spot 90 for this weekend, just wondering how many people/tents will fit this spot? And how many cars are allowed? Also if there is a view of the water?

  60. Cynthia Burgess says:

HI, I was just told I can take over a camp reservation from June 28-July 1 Lower Eagle Point 071 premium site. 1st what does premium mean? I have never visited your campground before. How busy is it at this time of year (I am sure Covid has slowed things down — I hope) What is your policy on dogs? How many people can I fit? although It will probably just be me and my 2 small dogs. THANKS

    • Hi Cynthia,
A premium campsite at Emerald Bay State Park has lake views. Your site (#71) is a ‘small’ premium site and has a maximum occupancy of 4 people and 2 vehicles.
Dogs are permitted (on leash) in the campground. Also, Emerald Bay State Park will be very busy during your stay. The campground is mostly sold out. Have a great time!

  61. Sean Troup says:

Hi, is there an overflow parking lot for the campsites that only allow one car?

  62. Hi there,

I have spot #32 booked for mid July before I knew some friends would come along, will site #32 fit two tents? Our tent is a small 2 person 7×5 tent. Also will we be able to park 2 cars at this spot?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Lilly,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #32 is designated as tent only with a maximum occupancy of 4 people and 1 vehicle. It looks like there is room for two small tents.

  63. Reem Chavez says:

Hi There, We have reservation for camp 027 and 028 I can’t find how many people each camp can have. Most says 4-8 person. Also, will we be able to fit two tents on each site?

  64. Solange Ana Degand says:

    Hello
I have reserved ADA site # 79, my family member uses a Bipap, please let me know if the site has the electricity to plug available

  65. Hi, I’m wondering how large a tent does site 42 accomodate? The tent pad dimensions are listed as 10′ x 10′. Would a three-person tent like the REI Half Dome 3 Plus fit? It’s 80″ x 92″ but with the vestibules would stick out a little if the tent pad width is exactly 10′.

  66. Patty Casasola says:

    Hello!
I have reservations for campsite 12 and 13 in 3 weeks. Are small Off road trailers with roof top tents allowed?

  67. Juan Aldama says:

Hello, I have tent #46 will this camp site be big enough for two tents? Thank you.

  68. Juan Pablo Aldama says:

Hello, Does tent #46 have shade?

  69. Katrina de Laszlo says:

Hi, We have 2 reservations for the end of July for sites 28 and 29. Would either of these fit a camping trailer of 21 feet? Thank you!

  70. Patty Casasola says:

    Hello!
I have reservations next Sunday for campsite 12 and 13.
What are the dimensions of bear boxes for those sites?
    Is there good shade?
Also do we need quarters for the showers?

    • Hi Patty,
The bear boxes measure 36″ deep x 43″ wide x 22″ high. Campsites 12 and 13 do have nice shade, and you do need to pay for showers. The pay machine there accepts cash or credit card.

  71. Can you comment on how large of a tent and how much shade there is for site #82? Are we allowed to bring a small charcoal BBQ? Would it be a challenge carrying a kayak or SUP from camp to the lake and back? Thoughts to maximize fun for a 5 and 7 year old? Thanks!

    • Hi Josh,
The tent pad area for Emerald Bay State Park is 18′ x 24′, so you can fit a pretty large tent (or a couple of small-medium sized tents) at the site. The site also has a pedestal BBQ you can use, or you can bring a portable small BBQ grill. It would be a bit of a hike (up/down the hill) to carry a kayak or SUP from your campsite to the water. Probably best to drive down to the day-use area. Lastly, there should be lots of fun to be had for your 5 to 7 year olds. The day-use/beach area offers swimming and kayak/SUP rentals. There’s also some nice hiking trails they would enjoy, with opportunities to see wildlife and waterfalls. Other activities in the are includes fishing, boat tours, and touring the 38-room Vikingsholm Castle. What 5-7 year old wouldn’t want to check out a castle?!

      • Great information, thank you!

We may bring a little pop up camper behind a large SUV. What size is the parking area of site #82? Is it 18′ x 18′? Would a vehicle fit next to a small camper there?

  72. todd harris says:

I am staying in site 3
Is there room for 2 tents including a large 14X10 tent?
Also, room for a pickup and small SUV?
    Thx

    • Hi Todd,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #3 allows for a maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 people. The parking pad area is 15 feet wide by 21 feet long. the tent pad area is 8 feet wide x 12 feet long. With that said – your large 14×10 foot tent should fit in the area okay.

  73. Hello, we have a group of 7 campers. I was wondering how many 2 person tents campsite 90 can accommodate?

    • Hi Katie,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #90 can accommodate up to 1 vehicle (2nd vehicle has extra fee) and 8 people. The tent pad area is 12 feet wide by 15 feet long. Two smaller tents would fit.

  74. Hi there! We have reservations for site #83 at Emerald Bay SP – wondering if this site has a view/enough room for 2 tents and 2 vehicles? Also, generally is this an OK site? The image of it looks super close to the restrooms. Thanks!!

    • Hi Melissa,
Yes, Emerald Bay State Park campsite #83 can fit 2 vehicles and up to 8 people. There is room for two tents in this site too. The site is large and level, but as you pointed out – not much privacy and it’s close to the restroom so you’ll see a few campers walking by.

  75. Hi! My family reserved campsites #69 and #83 I am wondering if both can fit two tents and two vehicles. Also which one has more privacy and shade. Thanks

    • Hi May,
Both Emerald Bay State Park campsites #69 and #83 can fit two vehicles and up to 8 people. Both can also fit two tents, although campsite #69 tent pad area is smaller at 12′ wide x 16′ long. Campsite #83 tent pad area is 14′ wide by 19′ long. Campsite #69 definitely has more privacy and shade.

  76. I just booked site #57 for a company trip in a couple weeks. Is there room for 2 cars and 2 or 3 tents? If someone drives up separately and we have 3 cars where can we park the extra cars?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Andrew,
Emerald Bay State Park site #57 allows for 1 maximum vehicle (parking area 8 feet wide by 18 feet long) and 8 people. The tent pad size is 8 feet x 8 feet. However, you may also be able to fit another tent at ten end of the paved parking area. Hope this helps.

      • Do you have a picture of #57? It appears that you have the picture for #58 twice (for 57 and 58)?
If not, can you describe it please?
        Thank you!

      • Hi Brad,
Thanks for pointing that out! We will get the correct picture for campsite #57 on here asap. In the meantime, here are two pictures for campsite #57.
        Front View:

        Rear View:

  77. My wife and I booked Lower Eagle Point Premium tent campsite #44, and we can’t find information on the amenities of that particular site. Any information about views, grills, firepit, etc? Or could you advise on a link with this information? All help is appreciated!

    • No problem Lars!
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #44 allows for a maximum of 1 vehicle and 8 people. Check in is 2pm and check out is 12pm for all Emerald Bay State Park campsites. The driveway surface is paved and you have a table, food storage locker, fire ring with a grate. The tent pad area is about 8×10, but you could probably fit a larger tent in the spot. The parking pad is about 9 feet wide by 18 feet long.

  78. Hi, Great website. I booked site #80 at Emerald Bay State Park. Can it hold 2 cars ? Are 6 people allowed ?

    • Thanks Fatha!
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #80 is designated for a maximum of two vehicles and 4 people. The tent pad area is only 6 feet x 6 feet. The camp host makes the final call though on how many people can fit. If two of our 6 are small children – the host may give you a pass.

  79. Cindy Jewett says:

Hello, I have reserved #27. I see that only one car is allowed. Where can the other car(s) park, and can this be arranged when the other cars arrive,
or does it need to be arranged beforehand?

    • Hi Cindy,
Campers can park an extra vehicle in the overflow parking lot next to the campfire center at Emerald Bay State Park. You can click on the ‘Campground Map’ to get an idea of the campfire center / overflow parking lot is located. You don’t need to arrange to park in the overflow lot beforehand.

  80. Hi, I am planning to visit the park on labor holiday Sunday! I don’t have reservation. Is there first come first serve!! In any campground near South Lake Tahoe!
    Many thanks

    • Hi Depp,
All campgrounds are sold out around Lake Tahoe over Labor Day weekend, no campsites available for overnight camping. However you can spend a day at Emerald Bay State Park (and other parks).

  81. Hi!

Looking to book for next year. Which site is best for view, size and privacy? 77 or 78?

    • Hi Erica,
Emerald Bay Campsites #77 and #78 are both real nice – among our favorites. Both also have lake views, good size and decent privacy. I’d lean toward site #77 for the view though.

  82. I am super excited to have reserved site 29 and just want to confirm that it will fit my 4Runner and 15’3” trailer. Thanks so much in advance!

    • Way to go Kathryn, Emerald Bay campsite #29 is sweet with an amazing view! The (paved) parking pad area is 18 feet long and the (paved) width is listed as 8 feet wide. That said, there is another few feet of room on either side of the parking pad (width). There’s also a few fee over overhang off the back. You should (hopefully/maybe) be able to park your trailer as far back as possible and then angle your 4Runner a bit to have everything fit in the spot. Keep in mind they require to have all wheels on the paved surface. Have a great time!

  83. Will I be ok in site 74 with a 21 foot trailer?

    • Hi Keith,
Campsite #74 has a pad area width of 8 feet and length of 18 feet. This is the paved surface measurements. There is also some overhang off the back (about 3 feet – before the rocks), so your 21 foot trailer should fit fine (remember to keep wheels on pavement). Not sure though if your towing vehicle will also fit in the spot.

  84. Nikki hanlon says:

Will site 26 fit a 8×8 tent comfortably?

    • Hi Nikki,
They have the tent pad size for campsite #26 listed as 6×6, but there is a little more room than that. You’re 8×8 should fit fine – but may be a tad tight.

  85. We have site 70 over the 4th of July 2021 week fir our 18’ trailer and truck. Is there a RV dump station in the park? If not where would the nearest one be?

    • Hi Bob,
There is not an RV dump station at Emerald Bay State Park. The closest one we know of is at DL Bliss State Park. DL Bliss is about 2 miles up the road (north) off of Highway 89. There is a fee ($10?) to use the dump if you’re not a registered camper at DL Bliss State Park.

  86. We have a 24 ft trailer, are there any spots that can accommodate that size? This campground looks amazing!

    • Hi Caitlin,
Yes – the campground at Emerald Bay State Park is very nice! Unfortunately the parking pads are on the small side. Most can accommodate a trailer or RV from 18 to 21 feet. I don’t know of any that will fit a 24 foot trailer. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button and search the sites (ReserveCalifornia.com lists the sizes of each).

  87. We camped for years in Eagle Point sites #54-56. It appears these are now renumbered #86-88. Do you know if these are the same sites and configured similarly as before (as spacious). Is there some reason that site #86 is not able to be reserved? Thanks!

  88. Hi there. Are sites 30, 31 and 32 pretty close to each other? We reserved these three sites for 4 families with children. Are the sites connected or blocked off by trees? Do you think these are good sites for families with children? Thanks!

    • Hi Hailee,
Campsites 30, 31 and 32 should be nice campsites for family. They’re also close to each other and not blocked off by any trees. There will be a few trees, but not a thick forest to block your view between sites. Children will love them too! Have fun!

  89. Juan Aldama says:

    Hello,

Si site number 55 able to hold two tents one is a big tent and the other one is medium size. Also, can it hold two cars?

    Thank you.

  90. Lisa Reynolds says:

Quick question on site #38 – I booked so quickly that I forgot to note what the tent pad size of this site is. It is listed as small tent, but I cannot now find those details as they are not listed on my confirmation. Can I also assume that the parking pad is the standard 8 x 18?

    • Hi Lisa,
I don’t blame you with booking quickly – with the speed that campsites are getting booked nowadays! Emerald Bay State Park campsite #38 has a tent pad measurement of 10 feet x 10 feet. It allows for a maximum of one vehicle and 4 people at the site. Have a great time!

  91. Hi. Can you please compare sites 48, 49 and 79 in terms of size, privacy, trees and view? Also, which if any of these sites can accommodate 1 large 20 x 10 tent, and possibly another much smaller 2nd tent? I realize 79 is ADA, which is needed for my mom, but we may try to split our group up depending on the size of the campsites. Thank you so much!!

    • Hi Corina,

Campsite 48 (maximum occupancy: 8 people and 2 vehicles) is large and can fit a 20×10 tent, as well as another smaller one. It has less privacy than #49 due to its close proximity to another site and restroom.
Campsite 49 (8 people / 2 vehicles) is smaller, and I doubt a large tent can fit, but offers a spectacular view of the water. It also has better privacy.
Campsite #79 (8 people / 2 vehicles) is an ADA site as you reference. It is flat with not a lot of privacy due to proximity of other sites, a walkway behind the site and limited tree coverage. It looks to have enough room for a large (20×10) tent.

  92. Hello,
Hope you are keeping well and safe. I’ve been trying to find the date on which the camp ground (re)opens again. Is that as per the online reservations module, or do you open earlier in the year (but without reservations), so we would like to stay at the camp ground early April.
    thank you so much!

  93. Hello wonderful Park Ranger! Could you please describe campground #26 in terms of size, tent pad size(s), slope, etc.? Thank you so much!

    • Hi Sara,
Ah yes – delightful campsite #26. This is a small premium campsite that has a table, fire ring, food storage locker and BBQ pedestal. The tent pad area is 6 feet x 6 feet. It can accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 4 people. It’s also a nice private site, but you have to walk down just a little slope from your vehicle (parking area) to the camping area. The table/camping area is flat. May have a sneak peak of the water too. Have a great time!

  94. Hello Camp Ranger! I reserved campsite #68. It says “premium campsite” We we will be camping with tents. What does premium mean?? Does it mean only RVs are allowed? and should we just switch to a normal campsite if this is the case?

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!

    • Hi Kristia,
The premium campsites either have better views and/or are a bit larger (camping area and/or parking area). It does not mean that it is an RV/trailer only site. In fact, campsite #68 recommends “RV or tent, not suitable for trailers”. Hope this helps!

  95. Hello, we’re staying in the upper eagle point campground. Site #18. Will a 6 person tent fit in the spot?

    • Hi Iris,
You can have a maximum of 1 vehicles and 8 people at Emerald Bay campsite #18. Without knowing the measurements of your 6-person tent, it looks like it (a larger tent) should fit fine in the tent pad area.

  96. Hi! Wondering how the privacy and size is site 045 is at lower eagle point. Also, we plan on bringing our dog and while I know they aren’t allowed on the trails or beach at EBSP, are there often dogs at the campground? Thanks!

    • Hi Amy,
Emerald Bay State Park campsite #45 is one of the best. It has a view of the lake, is nice and private (away from other sites), and you have room for a couple of tents. Also, dogs are only allowed in the campground (no other areas – trails, beaches, etc.), and must always be on leash. Not sure how many people bring their dogs (to camp), but I know there are at least a few each week.

  97. Kimberly says:

Hi there!!! Just a few questions. We have a reservation for campsite #44 at Emerald Bay, Lower Eagle Point mid June 2021. Is this site big enough for 2 tents? Are bears currently active in the area? Can you have a campfire? I have a hard time finding info on the size of the campsite and if it has a view. Thanks and stay safe 🙂

    • Hi Kimberly,
As luck would have it – we just took new/updated photos of the campsites at Emerald Bay State Park. We will be posting those soon, but here is the photo for campsite #44. It has a few tent pad areas so you can fit 2-3 tents. There is a tent area over by the bear box, by the trees and a third where the photographer is standing. You can also see the lake from the campsite. Also, the bears are awake from their winter slumber. They will be cruising the campground (usually at night), so store all food in your bear/food storage locker. Fires are allowed, but that could change if extreme fire-conditions occur.

  98. Sean Brown says:

We’re camping in 092 in lower eagle point. How far from the campsite is the lake? We have an inflatable kayak (about 50lbs) and want to know if it’s doable or if we should go to the day use area

  99. Hi there

Could I check for site#72, would there be room to fit for 2 cars and 3 tents (2-3p tent size) or would it be too tight?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Wy,
Campsite #72 can accommodate up to 1 vehicle (18 feet) and 8 people. We just took new campsite photos (to be posted soon), but I’ve included the updated photo of #72 here. You can see the area for tents. I’d say it can accommodate 3 small tents, but it’ll be a little tight.

  100. Teodoro says:

    Hello Ranger,
Could you confirm if Site #60 has 2 or so extra feet on the length/overhang toward the back of the parking pad area?
    Thank you,

    • HI Teodoro, Here’s an updated image for campsite #60. We will be posting updated campsite photos for Emerald Bay State Park soon. As you can see, it’s a bit difficult to tell if you have an extra 2 feet toward the back. I’m not quite sure how much extra space is available from the back of the parking pad to those two boulders.

  101. We reserved site #34 for July, titled as a small camp site. Is it big enough for 2 tents? Also, are dogs ok? Everything I e read says they are, but not ok on the lake which doesn’t make sense. Isn’t this Lake Tahoe where dogs are always on the lake?

    • Hi Jenett,
Yes – two small tents will work in campsite #34 (see updated image here). Also, dogs are allowed (on a leash) in the campground and paved camp roads. They are not allowed on any of the trails. As for the lake:
While your dog is not allowed on any designated swimming beaches which include Nevada, Pope, Baldwin, Meeks Bay, and William Kent Beaches, there are still plenty of places for both of you to enjoy the water. Dogs are allowed at the Tallac Historic Site from Valhalla Pier to Tallac Point (where the Lake of the Sky Trail meets the lakefront) in South Lake Tahoe, North Beach at Zephyr Cove Resort, Hidden and Chimney Beaches on the east shore, Coon Street Beach in Kings Beach, Ski Beach in Incline Village (from October to April only), and Echo Lakes. Also, the lakes and streams in Desolation Wilderness are another good option.

  102. Nicole schmjtt says:

    Hi camp rangers!
I’m really looking forward to staying here for almost 2 weeks! We normally stay in a cabin every year so this will be a bit different. Could you share a bit of information on campsite #68. What is the view like? Is there shade/privacy? Also, what size tent will we be able to fit? Getting so excited!

    • Hi Nicole,
Lucky you – to be able to spend 2 weeks at Emerald Bay State Park campground this year! Campsite #68 is one of our favorites and has a view of the water. It also has a flat table/fire ring area and a few flat areas for tents. The main tent pad area is 12′ x 12′, and there may be room for another smaller tent. The site also has nice privacy (other campsites are not too close), but campers strolling the campground road will be able to see you. You’ll also have some shade (in table area) off/on throughout the day. Have a great time!

  103. We will be at Emerald Bay over July 4 in our travel trailer. What is the bear situation then?

  104. Hello,

I was able to snag site #76 do you know if it will fit 2 cars and 2 medium tents?

  105. Sahar Foruzan says:

    Hello,

I’m booked for campsite #65 for 8 people. Its a standard campsite, will it fit three tents?

  106. We booked campsite 018 and I’m wondering if we can have 2 tents and 2 cars for 7 of us? Will we need a pop up for shade and is there any view of the water? Thanks.

    • Hi Yvette,
Campsite #18 does not have a view of the water. The tent pad/camping area is listed as 16 feet x 18 feet, so you should be able to fit 2 small-medium tents in that area. The parking pad is 18 feet long and can accommodate up to 1 vehicle. Overflow parking is available at Emerald Bay State Park. And you can have up to 8 people in that campsite.

  107. Hello!

This is our first time staying at Emerald Bay & have booked site #41 at Lower Eagle Point in a few weeks. Can you give me an idea how many people / tents will fit?
    Maybe a 10×12 and a smaller tent?

    • Hi Lynette,
Campsite #41 can accommodate up to 1 vehicle and 8 people. The parking pad length is 18 feet. There is overflow parking available at Emerald Bay State Park campground. The main tent pad area is 10′ x 10′. You do also have a smaller area over by the food locker/picnic table if you wanted to pitch a small tent there. Hope this helps!

  108. Sarah Verbeek says:

    Good morning!

We just reserved site 80 for next weekend. I noticed that it says it’s small, but will we be okay sleeping in a rooftop tent at that site? Is the pavement sloped at all to where this would be uncomfortable while using a ladder?

    • Hi Sarah,
Good job on reservation Emerald Bay State Park campsite #80. You will be able to use a rooftop tent at that site. The parking pad/pavement is fairly level. The site can accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 4 people. The pad length is 18 feet. Here’s a photo of the parking area:

      Have a great time!

  109. Hi,
We’ve reserved campsite 53 in August. There are 4 of us with two cars. We each have small tents. Can we fit 4 small backpacking tents at that site?

Thanks so much! Looking forward to being there.

  110. Hi Camp Ranger, we are camping the 1st week of August in Site #2. It’s our first trip to Emerald Bay. We have a travel trailer that’s 16’, close to 18’ bumper-to-hitch. My question is about the showers: do they take quarters or tokens? Also, are power outlets available in the bathrooms for a hairdryer? 😉 Thanks in advance, this site is very helpful.

    • Hi Katy,
Glad we can help! You should really like Emerald Bay State Park and I hope you have a great time.
Campsite #2 has a pad length of 18 feet, with maybe a little extra room out the back. You can have up to 2 vehicles and 4 people in that site. The showers take coins, but not sure the cost. The restrooms are very nice/modern, but I’m not sure if they have power outlets. Perhaps someone knows and can comment here.

  111. Jennifer Lu says:

Hi! How do we pay for the showers here? I saw 2 comments saying coin, but also credit card. Can someone clarify if possible? Thank you so much!

  112. Jennifer Lu says:

Right now, there is a notice saying registered campers can have a wood fire in the fire ring unless there is a Red Flag notice. Where can we see if there is a Red Flag notice? We are camping July 23-25.

    Thanks!!

  113. Susan Krick says:

Wondering if boat campsite #19 has a view of the water?

  114. Joshua Engberg says:

Hello! My wife and i booked #58 for 3 nights. We have a f150 and a Small Teardrop 13ft Total from hitch to rear including a 4ft overhang after tire that can extend past pad if needed. How is this Space for accommodating our vehicle and Teardrop? The teardrop is easily maneuverable to a position at an angle or sideways. Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Joshua,
Here’s a picture of the parking pad area for campsite #58. As you noted – the wheels need to be on the paved parking surface. They list the pad length at 18 feet (of paved surface).

  115. I’m thinking about booking site 72, but my family sleeps in our van. The site information says the driveway grade is severe. Is it severe enough for us to not be able to level it out with some leveling blocks? We currently have site 36 booked, but are thinking of switching to this site. Also, is there room at site 36 for a little bit of overhang on our van?

    • Hi Matt,
Not sure about the severity of the grade for campsite #72. We did have one other photo of that campsite and it (kind of) shows the parking area. As you probably know the site can accommodate 1 vehicle and up to 8 people. The parking pad is listed as 18 feet long. Campsite #36 can accommodate 1 vehicle and up to 4 people. It’s pad length is also 18 feet. It does look like you have about 2 feet over overhang off the back before you hit the big boulder.
Here is the photo of #72’s parking area:

  116. Carolyn Churchill says:

We have a 20′ camper van and wanted to stay in site #80. Would we fit?

  117. Carolyn Churchill says:

We have a 20′ van and wondering if any of the sites 74,76,77,79 would our van?
    Thank you

  118. Ramiro Soto says:

Hello there! When will reservations open for the 2022 season. Cant find any info on the website. As of now for may 2022 seems to be walk-ins only. Would like the know the earliest I ll be able to book a site. Thanks!

    • Hi Ramiro,
Reservations generally open up for Emerald Bay State Park for arrivals in mid June through mid to late September. Weather permitting (no snow), it opens mid-May for first-come, first serve. The reservation window opens 6 months prior to your arrival date. In other words, if you want to arrive on July 1, then the first day you can make a reservation (at 8:00am PST) is January 1. The campground sells out quick, so if you miss a campsite, you can always try our Campsite Assist service and get alerted when a campsite becomes available on the dates you want to camp: https://www.campsitephotos.com/campsite-assist/?c=Emerald+Bay+SP&id=39618

  119. Claudia Cameron says:

Hi Camp Ranger – wow what a great service and you’ve expanded so much with such in depth knowledge of campgrounds!!

Two questions: This is our first trip to Emerald Bay. We have a pop up camper on a full size truck (wheel base of 13.5′). Will ‘tent’ sites work for us? From pictures, it looks like some have the parking area in a really sweet spot, and others would need a tent to not feel like you’re parking in the street. We value privacy/quiet first and view second.

Specifically….we have reserved site 53 because it was on your favorites list but it looks really close to other sites and on the ‘inside’ – what makes it a favorite? We can still get 36-38 or 21-23 for the nights we’ll be there. Should we change?

    • Hi Claudia,
Thanks so much for the kinds words and great questions. First off, way to go on getting an Emerald Bay campsite!
Campsite #53 was on our ‘favorite list’ because it does offer some nice privacy (away from other sites) and it’s a pull through campsite. There are also some nice tent pad areas. Here are two photos of site #53 (different angles). I think you’ll really like it.

  120. Oscar M says:

    Hello,

I was wondering if you can setup tents on space #14. It didn’t list it as an option when I made the reservation. Thank you!

  121. Hello,

I booked site #14 and was wondering if I can setup tents there. It didn’t give me the option of tents when I reserved it, but looking at the site picture, it’s big enough for tents. Thank you!

  122. I booked campsite #45, listed as small. Will my 10×10 tent fit? And is there a fire ring?

    • Hi Emma,

Good job on reserving Emerald Bay State Park campsite #45! It’s a nice site, but on the smaller side. It is listed as having a tent pad area of 10×10 feet. Your tent should work then, but it’ll be snug. Have a great time!

    • Hi Emma,

Good job on reserving Emerald Bay State Park campsite #45! It’s a nice site, but on the smaller side. It is listed as having a tent pad area of 10×10 feet. Your tent should work then, but it’ll be snug. I’m not positive about the fire ring. All campsites should have one, but I don’t see it our picture. I also checked another picture we have, but it was more of the parking area. I believe it does have a fire ring though and it’s down below the picnic table. Have a great time!

  123. Siwen Carlisle says:

I just booked campsite #24. Will that site accommodate 5 adults and 2 children with two tents? Can I park two vehicles there? When I checked out on the website, it only showed 1 vehicle in the drop-down menu. So I don’t know if we could bring a second vehicle. Thank you so much!

    • Hi Siwen,
You can have up to 1 vehicle and 8 people at Emerald Bay State Park campsite #24. Overflow parking for campers is available in the lot next to the campfire center if you have a 2nd vehicle. The tent (pad) camping area is listed as 18×24 feet. You’ll be able to fit two tents at that site. Have fun!

  124. Hi — of campsites 41 and 65, which one would fit a prius + trailer ?
    14.7′ (car) + 9-10′ trailer.
    thanks!

    • Hi Gavin,
Both campsites allow for up to 1 vehicle and 8 people, and both have parking spurs 8′ wide x 21′ long. Campsite #41 has a tent pad area of 10×10 and campsite #65 has a tent pad area of 8×8. I doubt they will allow you to park both your Prius and trailer, but there is overflow parking for campers is available in the lot next to the campfire center at Emerald Bay State Park.

  125. Hi! We have a chance to stay in campsite #81. Can you kindly share why it’s on your favorite’s list as it is not a premium site? Does it have reasonable space and privacy from the road? We have 2 little rangers in our family so space to roam and explore is desirable!

Separately, how would you say #81 compares to #61 in view, space, etc?

    Thank you!
    Sheila

    • Hi Shelia,
Campsites #81 and #61 are among our favorites at Emerald Bay State Park (Eagle Point) Campground. #81 is relatively large, flat and has some nice space/privacy between neighbors. Campsite #61 also has nice space/privacy between neighbors. I think #81 is has a little more camping area and has a peak of the water. #61 has a tad better view of the water (you can actually see Lake Tahoe in background of picture). Both are also in relatively quiet areas of the campground. I’d probably lean toward #81 as it would have a bit more room for your little rangers to play, but you’ll be happy with either site! Have a great time.

  126. Hi I was wondering if site 69 would work with a 14 ft trailer and truck?

    • Hi Dan,
Campsite #69 has a parking spur that is 7 feet wide x 21 feet long. There’s a little extra room in front/back. The rule is to keep all wheels on paved parking surface, but you may be able to angle your truck a bit to make it all work. Here’s a photo of the parking spur for campsite #69:

  127. Hello! We will be driving through and would like to stay here May 9th – 12th 2022. All sites are shown as walk in – can you confirm the campground is open? Also, not having a reservation gives me pause – can you provide the likelihood of a site being available on Monday, May 9th with an approximate arrival of 5 PM? Thank you in advance for your time!

  128. I have reservations for site 31. Website says tent pad size is 6×6 and only 4 people, I can’t find a tent this size. Is there a second area for a tent or will the pad accommodate a tent that is 8×10? Thank you,

    • Hi Tamie,
The tent pad area is above the table/fire pit area (you can see the path leading to it). Unfortunately we didn’t get a photo of the tent pad area, but a 6×6 measurement seems pretty small from what I can remember. I’m pretty sure it’s bigger than that and your 8×10 tent will fit.

  129. Jessica says:

    Hi Camp Ranger,

Two questions: This is our first trip to Emerald Bay. I have reservations for site #2 (small campsite) at Upper eagle point, wondering will tent sites work for us as the remark stated “site is sloped, not great for tents”, and would two tents with two cars fit in this campsite?

I also have another reservation on lower eagle point #60, wondering if only one vehicle is allowed? and would tent work for this campsite or it is specifically for RVs and trailers? Thank you.

    • Hi Jessica,
Campsite #2 has 1-2 areas to pitch a small tent. You should have room for two small tents. The tent pads areas are sloped though, but the area behind the big rock (next to parking area) isn’t too bad. Campsite #2 can have up to 2 vehicles and 4 people.
Campsite #60 allows for up to 1 vehicle and 8 people. Overflow parking is available for extra vehicles. The parking pad length is 18 feet and you can park a small RV or trailer in the spot. If a trailer, you’ll need to park your towing vehicle in the extra vehicle parking area. It also has room for a few small tents and/or a medium sized tent.
      Hope this helps!

  130. Nathan L Cassorla says:

Hi there! Have a reservation for my family and I in late June and am curious the pad size for site 57? What size towable camper is permitted in this site? Thanks again! We cant wait to visit!

    • Hi Nathan,
You’re going to love it! Campsite #57 can have 1 vehicle (trailer counts as one vehicle) and up to 8 people. The parking spur is 18 feet long with some overhang out the back so you have about 21 feet total in length. There is overflow parking for a 2nd vehicle at the campground. The main tent pad size is 8×8. There’s another area over by the fire pit where you could probably fit a small size tent.

  131. If our campsite #70 is only able to have 1 car, is there an overnight parking area for extra vehicles. We can have 8 people but would need to bring 2 card. Also, any extra info you can tell us for this site?

  132. Does campsite #70 have room for 2 large tents and is it multiple levels or all one? How severe is the parking spot? Any extra info you can tell us for this site? Thanks!

    • Hi Kit,
Way to go on reserving campsite #70. It is one of our favorite campsites at Emerald Bay State Park. The camping area is pretty flat – all one level. There are 2 tent-pad areas in this spacious campsite. The largest of the tent areas is 15′ wide x 18′ long. The other tent pad area is about half the size. You can have up to 1 vehicle and 8 people in the site. Overflow parking is available for extra vehicles. The overflow parking is located near the amphitheater. The parking spur is listed as having a ‘severe’ grade, but that is only as you enter the site (I’d call it a ‘moderate’ grade), then it levels out somewhat toward the rear. Here is a photo of the parking spur:
      Hope this helps.
Now get up to beautiful Lake Tahoe and have a great time at Emerald Bay State Park!

  133. Hi there! I had previously asked about site 57 size and appreciate the response! I wanted to ask about the pad width and any height restrictions? Our camper is 18’(21’ with the trailer tongue) long by 8’ wide, 10’5” high and wanted to know if this will work on site 57? I noticed the photo on this website for site 57 is actually site 58 so I thought I would check with you before making the drive.
    Cheers!

    • Hi Nate,
I triple checked the photos for campsites #57 and #58 and am 100% sure the photo of campsite #57 on our site is campsite #57. I’ve attached two photos below – different angles – for site #57. ReserveCA has a photo of site #57 and, although very distorted, it also matches up with our photo. We reshot/updated all Emerald Bay State Park photos in the fall of 2021 – so they are current.
Also, campsite #57 can have up to 1 vehicle and 8 people. The length of the parking spur is 18 feet. The width is not listed, but you probably have about 8 feet of space. Remember all wheels need to be parked on the paved surface. There is overflow parking available.

  134. Hi,

Im planning to do a 1 night stay at lower eagle point campground.

Currently, I have Spot 76 booked. But i do see 65,70,71,72,73 also available.
I’m looking for the best lake view possible and close proximity to the beach for kayaking(don’t wanna carry my kayak). We are 4 ppl in a 6ppl tent so flat ground if possible, but no compromise on the 1st 2.

Please advise which site would be good.

    • Hi Marcelo,
Campsite 76 does have a view of the water, as does 65, 70, 71, 72 and 73. They are also fairly close to the 1/4 mile trail-fire road to the lake where you can launch a kayak. Campsite 65 is the closest to the trailhead.

      The Emerald Bay State Park / Eagle Point campsites with a view of the water include: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34p, 35p, 36p, 37p, 38p, 39p, 40p, 41-50, 56p, 58, 59p, 61, 62p, 63, 65-70, 71p, 72, 73p, 74-79, 80p, 81p, 82p, 86. Sites with a ‘p’ indicate ‘partial’ view.

  135. Hi,

I’ve reserved CS#43 in July, the photo seems a little small. Can it fit in a 6-person tent but only occupied by 4 persons?

Why it’s in your favorite list? Better view?

    Thanks.

  136. Crystal Ragsac says:

Hello, just got sites #11, 56, 68, and 75. Which site would be best for accomodating a truck towing an ~18′ Airstream, and three tents? Anything else to note for any of our sites?

    • HI Crystal,
Great job on getting those 4 campsites. They are among our favorites at Emerald Bay State Park. All of the parking spurs are listed as being 18 feet long, with sites 11, 68 and 75 allowing for 2 vehicles (site 56 says only 1 vehicle allowed). I’d lean toward either site 11 or 75 for your Airstream. Both have a little more overhand out the back and #11 seems to have a wider parking spur. You can also park your truck at another site (if room) or in the overflow parking area at the campground. FYI – Sites 68 and 75 have the best water views. Site #56 has a partial view of the lake. Have a great time!

      • Crystal Ragsac says:

Thank you for the detailed response! We’ve decided to keep sites #68 and #75. One more quick question, are campfires allowed on our camp site right now?

      • You’re welcome Crystal!
As of today, campfires are allowed in campsite fire rings. That may change depending on weather/fire conditions.

  137. ahmad maghboul says:

Hello, are there any electrical power outlets near any of the campsites?

  138. Kathryn Le says:

    Hi there!

I am looking to book 4 campsites for my family in August to celebrate my birthday! What are the best campsites to try to get? We want to prioritize a good view first, and then of course privacy! Which campsites should we try to get first? Thank you so much for your recommendations!

    • Hi Kathryn,

      The Eagle Point campsites with a view of the water include: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34p, 35p, 36p, 37p, 38p, 39p, 40p, 41-50, 56p, 58, 59p, 61, 62p, 63, 65-70, 71p, 72, 73p, 74-79, 80p, 81p, 82p, 86. Sites with a ‘p’ indicate ‘partial’ view.
      You can also compare the above to what we think are the best campsites (based on location, view, size, privacy): 10-14, 22, 24-29, 30, 39-51, 53-56, 58, 59, 61, 65-70, 72, 74-79, 81, 82, 86-88, 90-97

Hope this helps some. We don’t have an employee on site at Emerald Bay State Park so its tough to narrow down to 4.

  139. Hi we rented a campervan that is 19.83ft long and 6.75ft wide. Would Emerald Bay Campsite be able to accomadate this campervan?

    • Hi Nona,
Almost all of the parking spurs are listed as 18 feet long (paved surface). Several have enough overhang out the back to accommodate a 20′ campervan (with all wheels on paved surface). However, the final approval would come from camp host/ranger since your vehicle is 20 feet.

  140. Hi. Do you have information about Boat camp in Emerald Bay SP? Can we drive to that campground?
Has Lower Eagle point campground access to the beach ? If not can you recommend something🙏 our favourite DL Bliss will be closed for this season 😢

    • Hi Alina,
We do have a write up / info on Emerald Bay State Park Boat Camp. You can’t drive down to Emerald Bay Boat Camp. It can only be accessed by hiking down 3/4 of a mile or by boat. There is also a trail from Lower Eagle Point campground to the water. It is about 1/2 mile from the camp to the waters edge. Hope this helps!

      • Thank you so much for your response! We are going to travel with kids , so information about no parking was very useful. If you can please tell what campsites with lake view and big enough for 3 tents and 1 vehicle.

      • You are welcome Alina!
        The Eagle Point campsites with a view of the water include: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34p, 35p, 36p, 37p, 38p, 39p, 40p, 41-50, 56p, 58, 59p, 61, 62p, 63, 65-70, 71p, 72, 73p, 74-79, 80p, 81p, 82p, 86. Sites with a ‘p’ indicate ‘partial’ view. All of these accommodate 1 vehicle. You’ll need to check out the photos to eye-ball which ones may fit up to 3 tents (depending on size of tents). Once you narrow down the list I may be able to determine if 3 tents will fit.

  141. Which pair of sites would be best for three families with 6 person tents. 69/70 or 81/82.

    • Hi Milen,
Both combos are great sites (among our favorites) and have room for 3 families (and 6-person tents). I’d say 81/82 have a bit more room. Campsite 81 has some decent privacy, but site 82 is next to the showers/restrooms. Campsites 69/70 are also nice but slightly smaller. They are also away from any bathroom traffic but are a little closer to neighboring campsites.

  142. Karen Calarco says:

Hi – which is a better site, #05 or #25? They’re both listed as small…not sure what that really means. Thanks!

    • Hi Karen,
Campsite #25 is one of our favorites as it has some pretty good room (pitching tents) and nice privacy. I’d lean toward that one over #5, but the tent pad/camping area for #5 would be a little closer to your parked vehicle(s) if that is something you’d prefer. Both campsites are classified as “small” because you can only have up to 2 vehicles and 4 people per site. Two vehicles is pretty typical for each site at Emerald Bay, but many others allow for up to 8 people.

  143. Hi – Just booked site #23. One of only a few of the bigger sites left. 18 and 21 were the others. We have a fairly large 10-12 person tent. Will it fit? have I made a terrible mistake? Are those better?

This is such an amazing level of customer service. Thank you so much for your time.

    • Hi Greg,
Congrats on booking campsite #23! It does have enough room for your 10-12 person tent. Campsite #21 does too. Both of those have about the same about of space and both are relatively flat (#21 maybe a bit flatter – but hard to tell). I don’t think #18 would have enough room for your tent.
And thanks for the kind words! We really enjoying providing as much info/tips as we can. Have a great time up at Emerald Bay State Park.

  144. We have a chance to book site #44 or #74. I was wondering if you have preference between these 2 for group of 6 in 2 medium tents. Which has better view of the lake, more space or privacy.

    • Hi Brian,
Campsites #44 and #74 are on our best/favorite campsites in the campground. They both have a peak view of the lake and have some decent privacy. You’ll have room in both sites for 2 medium sized tents and 6 people but campsite #74 has more room (site #44 may be a little tight depending on the size of your “medium” tents). Site #74 also is easier to access from the parking spur. I’d lean more toward site #74. Best of luck and hope get a campsite reservation!

  145. Bobbie Schneider says:

The picture you have listed for site 56 doesn’t seem to be the correct picture when comparing it to your YouTube video and to the campgrounds site. I am pretty sure the picture of site 55 is actually site 56. You have the same picture on #56 and #57. Can you confirm? I am wondering if site 56 will fir my 8X10 tent

    • Hi Bobbie,
Thanks so much for pointing that out! The YouTube video is correct and we will fix the photo for campsite #56 on the website.
Here is a front view of campsite #56:

And here is a side view of site #56:

Campsite #56 is one of our favorites and it does have room for an 8×10 tent. Have a great time and thanks again!

  146. I will be staying in #75 and have a 17′ trailer for 4th of July weekend. I’m a bad driver and don’t really know how to back up a travel trailer. I saw some comments on another site saying “steep decline” and also complained how hard it was to back in with boulders on each side. I’m worried that they won’t let me in as I’m in a 17′ trailer vs a 15′. Fingers crossed there is someone there to help if I encounter problems backing in. Any advice on the 17′ travel trailer situation?

    • Hi Ashley,
Campsite #75 has a pad length of 18 feet and is level. It’s also one of our favorite campsites at Emerald Bay State Park. See another photo below of the parking spur. The camp road/area has some room to back in your trailer. There also isn’t any obstacles to worry about except the campsite sign. You’ll want to try and back it in along one of the edges so you can fit your towing vehicle (parallel park). Just take it real slow and make several small adjustments while turning as you back in. Pull back out and readjust if necessary. Always good to have someone toward rear of trailer helping you back in. Just make sure you can see/hear that person. The road down to the campground has a grade but isn’t bad. I wouldn’t worry about it. As you mentioned, maybe you’ll find someone there who has experience and can back it in for you. Best of luck – you’ll do great!

      • Wow, two totally different opinions on site #75. I have booked this site for a week nexg summer. Tahoe is a long way from where I live and I’d hate to show up for a site without shade or privacy. Is this photo of site #75 up to date, because on the reserveamerica website, the site looks like a patch of dirt and rock with no privacy or trees. Campsite photos still recommends this site as one of the best for 2024?

      • Hey Mel,
Yes sir – you’ll get different opinions on campsites. All pictures of Emerald Bay State Park campsites are current and accurate. We took the photos in May of 2021. The picture on ReserveCalifornia’s site is probably 7+ years old (food storage locker in picture no longer in use) and taken from a different angle.

Our picture of #75 was taken at 10am and you can see it does get some shade (depending on the time of day). We have this site listed as one of our favorite/best campsites because it is large, flat, has a good parking area, is fairly private (space between neighbors) and – you can see the lake! Keep in mind our favorite/best campsites are compared to all the other sites in the campground -> those campsites that don’t have views, are not very private, have amazing smells of the toilet, are smaller, etc. – don’t make the ‘best list’.

I still think this is one of the best campsites at Emerald Bay State Park. It may not be your favorite if you prefer shade all day long.

  147. Ashley Tangeraas says:

My “premium” site #75 was terrible. There weren’t any trees and it was dry and desolate. The spots across from mine were phenomenal. There seemed to be almost no rhyme or reason to how they marked the “trailer” sites. For example, spot 19 said trailer and you could barely park one car. Other spots weren’t marked as trailer but had plenty of space. There is NO SOAP in the bathrooms. Although the view is stunning, the beach is very small. I guess that I was expecting more. I do not recommend taking a travel trailer there. You’d be okay with one of those sprinter vans, but not a travel trailer. The water spigots are unable to hook to a hose, so there’s absolutely no water. I saw a lot of spots empty, but maybe the people did not show up. I tried to move, but they said there wasn’t anything available that would have more shade and/or better parking. The beach is kind of a small walk, but that’s sort of it and no bike riding really unless you get your bikes in your car and go elsewhere. It would not have taken much to make this place a lot better. If you get one of the good spots, it could be really great. I have T-mobile and being able to talk on the phone was an issue. My hot spot did not work.

  148. Alonzo Zilch says:

We have reserved campsite #41. Would our large 10×14 tent fit in the footprint? Alternatively, what would your tent configurations suggestions be for 8 people if we have a variety of tent/hammock options within the 10 person to 2 person range?

    • Hi Alonzo,
Campsite #41 can have up to 1 vehicle and 8 people. Overflow parking is available at the park. The tent pad area (footprint) is 10×10 so your 10×14 tent won’t fit. You’re probably going to have to use a few smaller tents. A hammock may also work between those two large trees, but I’m not sure if they are close enough together.

  149. Hello, we have an upcoming reservation at site 30, we have a 6 person tent 11×9, will it fit ? Is this spot noisy since it is close to the bathroom?
How does it compare to site 77? Which one is better?

    • Hi Viv,
Your 11×9 foot (6 person) tent will fit in campsite #30. Both #30 and #77 are among our favorites in the campground. Both have views of the water. Campsite #30 has more room/privacy than #77. I’m sure you’ll really like site #30. Have a great time!

      • Thank you for your reply. Do you know if there are any tap water near the site and are there any designated area for dish washing?

      • Hi Viv,
I’m not sure where the water spigots are located at the campground but there is a restroom close to site #30. There probably is a water spigot pretty close as well (maybe at restroom). I don’t believe they have any dish washing stations there.

Hi I have a reservation for site #74. It says it’s a premium site but I’m still wondering if you think it can fit 6 people in 3 tents ? Thanks

    • Hi Effie,
Campsite #74 is designated as having up to 2 vehicles and 8 people. It is one of our favorite campsites and has a good amount of room for tents. You’ll be able to fit 3 small to medium sized tents at that campsite. Have a great time!

Hi! I booked two sites #9 and #26. We have total of 4 cars: 2 are using ground tents and 2 using roof top tents. Which is better for ground and which one is better for RTT? And I saw that #26 is one of your favorites, is it because of the view? Thank you for your help in advance!

    • Hi Donna,
Way to go on getting two campsites at Emerald Bay State Park! Campsite #26 is one of our favorites because it has a view of the water and the ‘camping area’ is nice and private. As for which is better for tent vs RTT … Campsite #26 has a smaller parking spur and the vehicles will need to be parked rear to front. It also has a little walk down to the camping area and there’s a little less room to pitch tents there. Campsite #9 has more room for tent camping, the camping area is easily accessed from the parking area, and you can park side-by-side in the parking spur. So I’d lean more towards #26 for RTT – if you don’t mind parking rear to front vs. side-by-side.

  152. We are looking at bringing a 23 ft sprinter van to lower eagle point. Is there any campsite that will fit a van of this size?

    • Hi Bryce,

The parking spurs are listed as being 18 feet in length. Some parking spurs are smaller and a few others have an overhang of a few feet that could fit a rig up to 20 feet. There may be 2-3 that could barely fit your 23′ Sprinter van, but I’m not sure which ones those would be. Perhaps someone else can comment / knows of one.

I booked site 43 and was wondering if I could fit both a 4-person tent and a 2-person tent here. Thanks!

  154. Hi Camp Ranger! How would you compare #25 and #87? ln terms of view, shading, slope, parking, etc? We are a group of 4 ppl with up to 2 vehicles. Thank you so much!

    • Hey Kathy! You picked out a couple of dandy sites. Both #25 and #87 are among our favorites at Emerald Bay State Park. Campsite #25 has some nice, private ‘camping areas’ (where you’d pitch your tent) away from the road. #87 has the same, but a little closer to the road and less private. Site #87’s table/fire ring is a bit more secluded (off the road), with #25’s table/fire ring next to the road. I’d say #87 has more shade. Both don’t have any neighbors behind you and you can take a little hike up behind each site for views of the lake. Neither have a direct view of the water from the campsite. Both also have good parking for two vehicles. Four people will fit great in either site. I’d say both are fairly level (camping/tent areas) – not much different. Hope this helps. Have a great time up there. BTW – with about 10 feet of snow scheduled to drop this weekend, keep an eye on when it opens – may not be until early to mid June if the snow keeps falling.

Hey there, thanks for all the info.
We have reserved site #85 with a small trailer. I think we will fit in the 18ft pad. If we do not fit, is there an overflow area to park our tow vehicle? Thanks!

    • You’re welcome Angela.
And yes, Emerald Bay State Park does have overflow parking if your tow vehicle does not fit in your campsite parking area. Have fun!
