Indian Springs Overview
Indian Springs Campground has 28 campsites and is located in the Tahoe National Forest along the banks of the South Yuba River. Seven of the campsites are walk-in, and the rest can accommodates trailers and RVs. The campground is along Interstate 80 and the historic California Emigrant Trail.
Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Our favorite Indian Springs campsites are 4, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 19. Some campsites are along the river. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.
Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also popular.
Other campgrounds in the area include Hampshire Rocks, Lodgepole (Tahoe), and Lake Spaulding.

In the ’70’s, my husband & I along with my sister-in-law & brother-in-law enjoyed one of your campsites on many occasions. The memories abound every year for the two of us remaining, Sadly, my husband & brother-in-law gone. My sister-in-law and I have been spared, for the time being. The site we always enjoyed faced both levels of Hwy.80, and above that, the train tracks.We also enjoyed the stream below our view. I can’t for the life of me remember the campground #, but somehow I keep thinking it was #5 or #6. Is that site still there? I would just really like to take my sister-in-law for a visit after all these years before the snow begins. Although, our memories do include snow during our visits. Thanks for listening.

Sorry, but I failed to say that the stream was right at the edge of our campsite facing our view. Sure hope it still exists, and I can treat both of us to a walk down memory lane. Again, thanks so much.
We stayed at site #10 in September 2020. The site was on a slight slope, but it was spacious for several tents. Near the vault toilets, and the water spigot was on our site. There are bees/wasps, so beware. Plenty of shade from the tall natural tree canopies, great for hammocks. We had friends staying in site #9 across from us, so we had easy access over the rocks to the watering hole – which is fabulous for swimming and lounging all day. I really liked this campground. Rangers were friendly! We’ll be back!
