I just need to now if the compground is goin to open for my day’s June 8 to 11

    • Hi Gustavo,

The US Forest Service indicates that it will be closed through May 15, so unless the Governor of California prevents it, Kaspian campground should be open>
“Lake Tahoe Basin National Forest developed recreation sites and areas are temporarily closed through May 15, 2020. Follow the link to view the forest orders and closure maps.”

      • Hi. I booked a campground from 06/22 to 06/25. Today I received a letter that the campground may be closed on these dates. can i find out the reason. Do I need to make a reservation at another hotel or can I hope that you will be open?

      • Hi Alex,
Kaspian campground is currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Recreation.gov sent you a note to let you know that it may not reopen by June 22. Tentatively Recreation.gov is showing it may reopen around June 28/29. We do know that other campgrounds (Fallen Leaf and Zephyr Cove) are tentatively scheduled to reopen around June 15 so perhaps there is a chance Kaspian may open in time for your stay.

        Here’s the official explanation:

This facility is temporarily closed in accordance with the State of California’s Executive Order N-33-20.

Guest services have been temporarily suspended. Tahoe Recreation is committed to the health and safety of our guests and staff. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and the guidelines from the CDC and will respond as warranted.

  2. Hi I have a reservation on August 3rd – 7th, what time is check in? Also will I get a refund if the Kaspian campsite is closed because of covid-19 corona virus? please reply thank you John

    • Hi John,
Kapsian campground has a check out at noon and check in at 2pm. It is currently open and if closes (due to Covid) you will get a refund from Recreation.gov.

  3. Micaela D Gonzalez says:

Is Kaspian campground walk in only? No car access?

    • Hi Micaela,
That is correct. All campsites at Kaspian are ‘walk to’. Campers can parking one car in the parking lot and must walk to their site (75 –  150 feet). All gear must be packed in and out.

  4. Site number 4-9 are different in these pictures (numbered counter-clockwise) as opposed to the site map on Recreation dot gov (numbered clockwise). Thanks – curious if I reserved a site other than the one I intended.

    • Hi Kenny,
We just photographed Kaspian campground’s campsites late last year. The photos are correct and reflect the correct campsite. You can also see the campsite post # in the campsite. Rec.gov’s map is also correct in that it shows the approximate location of each campsite.
