Lake Mary Campground Inyo National Forest California

Lake Mary Road
Mammoth Lakes, California 93546
760-873-2400

Lake Mary Campground has 51 campsites and is the most popular campground in the Mammoth Lakes.  The campground is on both sides of the road and near the Northwest end of Lake Mary.

Some of the campsites offer spectacular views of the lake and mountain peaks.  Most have great share from a forest of lodgepole pines. The campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs (14 to 21 feet).

The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, lake access and a friendly camp host. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, grate and food storage locker.  Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is poor in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

There’s lots to do here including boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, backpacking and horseback riding. No body contact is allowed with the lake (including swimming). Lake Mary has a marina and boat rentals. The town of Mammoth Lakes is 5 miles down the road where there’s plenty of shops, restaurants and other activities to enjoy.

Two other campgrounds in the area are Coldwater and Twin Lakes.

  1. Are RVs allowed here? The equipment says only tent or trailer on the site details.

    • Hi Matt,
The parking spurs at Lake Mary allow for maximum vehicle size of 14 to 21 feet. You can have an RV, but it needs to be small. BTW – you might notice bigger trailers in the photos, that’s because the person had reserved 2-3 sites and was allowed to park at an angle (across a few sites). Not sure if they are allowing that anymore.

      • Thanks! Do you know if site #6 would fit a 24’ RV? It seems like it is setup to park curbside and not back in. Thanks!

      • That should work. The site allows for up to 2 vehicles with maximum vehicle/trailer length of 18 feet. So combined, a 24′ RV should work.
