Lakes Basin Campground has 22 campsites and is located in the Gold Lakes Basin area just 2 miles from Gold Lake. The campground sits among beautiful pine, fir and aspen trees in a field of granite boulders. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs. One double family site and one group tent-only site are also available. The campground has drinking water and vault toilets. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host.

Other campgrounds in the area include Goose Lake, Gold Lake, Snag Lake,  Chapman Creek, Salmon Creek, Sardine Lake, Yuba Pass and Wild Plum.

Area Recreation

Gold Lakes Basin Area offers spectacular mountain scenery of the Sierra Nevadas and has over 20 natural glacial lakes. Visitors can enjoy boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, hunting, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also popular with opportunities to see a variety of birds and animals.
