RESERVATION SYSTEM DOESN’T WORK ! NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE ALL MONTHS AT ONCE FOR 6 MONTHS OUT SO ONE CAN SEE IF THERE ARE ANY OPEN DATES ONE MIGHT BE ALBE TO BOOK. THIS WAY ONE COULD TRY AND ARRAINGE A SCHEDULE AROUND IT !

    • Hi WM Murdock,
You are correct that ReserveCalifornia.com reservation system (for Limekiln State Park – and other California State Park), will only show availability for up to 20 future days on your monitor, but it does give you the ability to click on an arrow (to the right of the month/time frame) to see the next 20 days . . . and so forth. Not sure if ReserveCalifornia.com will eventually offer the ability to see availability for each day, 6 months in the future – all on one screen (without having to click the arrow).

  2. Do u have campsite available for Labor Day week end? Aug31st, Sept 1st

  3. Jessica Pappas says:

Hi, I was wondering what campsite numbers are reserved for first come first serve?

    • Hi Jessica,

All sites are now reservable at Limekiln State Park and we’ve updated our information.

The Redwood loop (sites 13-29) has campsites on the inland side and scattered along Limekiln Creek. The Ocean loop include sites 1-12 (for RVs) and are closest to the beach access trail. Some also have ocean views.

  4. Mary Brown says:

Is there an overflow parking? We are 5 people but 3 cars, it seems that the campsite would be perfect, but I’m not sure what to do with the 3rd car. Thank you!

    • Hi Mary,
Campsites can have two vehicles per site, but an extra fee is charged for the 2nd vehicle. Unfortunately there is no overflow parking at Limekiln Start Park/campground or anywhere along Highway 1. The 6 additional parking spaces by the shower are for day-use only.

  5. Edwin Chu says:

If all sites are reserveable that means that there are no day of sites anymore?

    • Hi Edwin,

All of the 39 campsites at Limekiln State Park can be reserved. If a site has not been reserved, then you can walk-in and reserve the site for the # of days it is available.

  6. Lianna Michaelson says:

Can a 35ft motorhome be accommodated on any of the sites? And how do I specify I want and rv site on the website?

    • Hi Lianna,

The campsites at Limekiln State Park can accommodate tents, trailers (up to 12 feet) and RVs (up to 24 feet). I don’t think our RV will fit in any of the sites. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, site size, pricing, whether it has hookups and to make a reservation.

  7. Julianna Lorenzen says:

Any word on when the campground will be reopened for camping?

    • Hi Juilanna,
Like all California State Parks, Limekiln State Park campground is still closed. The State of California hasn’t officially give the okay to reopen, but it has now left it up to each County to decide and make sure social distancing is in place. Also, many campgrounds may only operate at 50% capacity. We will make sure to post when the California State campgrounds start to reopen, but the California State Parks said they will give little advance warning.

  8. Are you allowed to sleep in a van in the tent only sites?

  9. Rose Ann says:

Is there a landline number I can share with my family for emergency purposes? I am a caregiver for two family members, and if there isn’t any cell reception at the campground, I’m concerned they cannot reach me if there’s an emergency. Thank you!

  10. Would a standard 25 ft RV fit in one of the Ocean camp sites?

    • Hi Shan,
They lists the Limekiln State Park ocean sites (1-12) as having a pad length of 24 feet. I’m thinking since most have a little overhang available – you’re 24 foot RV should be okay, but the camp host makes the final call.

  11. Can you have more than one tent or a RV and tent on Ocean Sites?

    • Hi Tari,
Campsites can have two vehicles per site, but an extra fee is charged for the 2nd vehicle. Also, you can have an RV and a tent at the ocean sites at Limekiln State Park, as long as their is room for a tent within your campsite boundary.

  12. Caroline says:

Are there electrical outlets in the bathroom?

    • Hi Caroline,
Unfortunately we’re not sure. That’s probably a question for someone onsite (at Limekiln State Park). Or perhaps someone can comment here about it. The phone number at Limekiln State Park is: 805 434-1996

  13. Jessica Deen says:

Can we use a roof top tent here?

  14. We are booked at Limekiln for 4 nights in late July with 4 kids and I read that the trails will be closed for clearing out debris from the Dolan fire at that time. Do you know if they will ALL be closed? We wanted to avoid getting in the car while there, will there be enough to explore if they are all closed?

    • Hi Tracy,
You are correct that the trails at Limekiln State Park are closed as they clear the debris from the Dolan fire. They are hoping to have some, if not all trails open by July 4th, but it’s difficult to say for sure. You may try calling the park to check on trail status: (805) 434-1996. The beach is also a nice plan to explore/visit as well.

  15. Am I allowed to bring my kayak trailer into the ocean tent sites?

  16. Jennifer says:

Are dogs allowed in the Redwood campsites? The Limekiln brochure says “DOGS must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and under control at all times. They must be confined to a vehicle or tent at night. Dogs are not allowed on trails,” but on the same website it states “Dogs not allowed beyond day-use parking lot.” https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=577

    • Hi Jennifer,
Both of the descriptions in the brochure are correct. Dogs are allowed in the campground (as described) and in the day-use parking lot, but not on any trails.

  17. Are campfires currently permitted in the Limekiln campgrounds?

  18. Can ALL campsites have 2 vehicles parked?

    • Hi Tina,
      Good question.
Most campsites at Limekiln State Park can accommodate up to 2 vehicles and 8 people. Campsites 13-16, 22, 23, 25 and 26 only allow for 1 vehicle (max) and up to 8 people.

  19. First, THANK YOU for providing all of this incredibly helpful information! I also have a question that I’m hoping you can help with… We have a popup camper approx 15 ft long when open, along with a 15 ft towing vehicle. Since the ocean sites are 24 ft long and the other sites are tent only, does this mean we are not able to camp in the park? Or would we be able to park our car somewhere else and set up our popup on the pad? Thanks so much!
    Pamela

    • Thank YOU Pamela for the kind words and I’m glad we’ve been able to help out with your camping planning.
You have a good (often asked) question too. Generally the final call is with the ranger/camp host. Some campgrounds are rather strict and may even measure your trailer at check in. I/we are not sure the vibe at Limekiln. Most all of the pad lengths (sites 1-12) at Limekiln are 24 feet. Some sites (like #5) you can park up to 2 vehicles side-by-side. In that case your set up (trailer/tow vehicle = 15′ each) would work. Sites 9, 11 and 12 also look to be okay. With that said, I can’t say for sure if they would allow it. You could always try calling the park (hopefully someone will pick up): 805 434-1996. Best of luck!

  20. Kallie Rawson says:

Do you have to have 4wd to access campsite LC02?

  21. Hi. we were able to get a reservation for 1 night but wanted to walk in for the day after to extend our stay. How likey is it that we may able to get a first come first serve spot since we are already in the park?

  22. I noticed it says car needs 4wd to get to site. How hard is it to access this site?

    • Hi Rachel,
A 2wd vehicle is fine to access roads/campsites at Limekiln State Park. The only time you may need a 4wd is during a big storm that causes muddy roads.

  23. The website says trailers up to 12 feet, but notes some spots will fit two vehicles. Wouldn’t this mean we could fit a vehicle, plus a trailer that is more than 12 feet? Or is this just the general rule regardless? Our trailer is 16 feet. Would love to camp here but seems like we may not fit? Thanks!

    • Hi Heather,
ReserveCalifornia can be confusing with its site/pad measurements. For each campsite (under amenities) it usually lists a site length and pad length. For example – for site #18 it has a site length of 24 feet and a pad length of 18 feet. The pad length refers to the parking spur so you should go with that in determining if your trailer and vehicle would both fit. Hope this helps!
