Sheep Pass is one of three group campgrounds in Joshua Tree National Park. It is also the smallest with six tent-only (group) campsites.  The campground is primitive and there is no water. The campground does have vault/pit toilets. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Sheep Pass is close to many hiking trails and popular rock climbing routes. It’s also a great basecamp for accessing other areas of the park. Outdoor recreation includes hiking, biking, rock-climbing, bouldering, star-gazing, wildlife viewing and exploring the many historic sites located throughout Joshua Tree National Park.

Other Joshua Tree National Park campgrounds to consider include Ryan, White Tank, Jumbo Rocks, Indian Cove, Hidden Valley, Belle, Black Rock Canyon, and Cottonwood.

Hi, I’m looking at campsite #5 at Sheep Pass and there isn’t many picture of it. When I looked at it from Google Earth, I notice there is a second fire ring tucked in between the rocks. I also noticed it from photos I found online. Is this correct? Is there a second fire ring that is away from the main Punic tables? If so I’ll book this now. Looks great

    • Hi Elmer, We do have a photo of Sheep Pass Group Campsite #5 and you can view it by clicking HERE. Keep in mind that all 6 campsites at Sheep Pass (in Joshua Tree National Park) are tent-only GROUP campsites.
