Spring Creek Campground Plumas National Forest California

Spring Creek Overview

Spring Creek Campground Frenchman Lake View

Spring Creek Campground is in the Plumas National Forest and has 34 single-family (mixed-used) campsites with several having beautiful views of Frenchman Lake. About half of the campsites sit on a slight hill and are not level, with the others having level sites. There are no pull-through sites and no site #11. Three sites are tent only (1, 5, and 35). A few sites are also double-family campsites.  Most of the campsites are fairly large and spread out with each having a table, fire ring and grill.

The campground is generally open mid April through September and has drinking water and vault toilets. There are no hookups. Firewood is available for sale from the campground host.

Other campgrounds in the area include Big CoveChilcoot, Frenchman and Cottonwood Springs.

At 5,607 feet in elevation, Frenchman Lake was created in 1962 when the California Department of Water Resources dammed Little Las Chance Creek. The shoreline is 21 miles and has become a great place to boat, canoe, kayak, fish, explore and play. During the summer, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, wildlife viewing, water skiing, jet skiing and other water sports. Winter activities range from snowmobiling to ice fishing and cross-country skiing.
