Silver Dollar Campground has 43 single-family campsites in a shaded lodgepole pine forest at an elevation of 9,904 feet. It is also within the Turquoise Lake Recreation Area. It is named after the infamous Horace and Baby Doe Tabor’s daughter.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Amenities include potable (drinking) water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. Check in time is 2pm and check out is 12pm. Generators are okay from 6am to 10pm. You can have up to 2 vehicles, 2 tents and 8 people per campsite. Cell service is good in the area.

Silver Dollar – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, water sports, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, OHV trail riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. A boat ramp is also available over at nearby Matchless campground.

The 1.2-mile Turquoise Lake Nature Trail also runs by the campground. This trail connects to the 6.4 mile Turquoise Lake Trail that parallels the shoreline from the dam to May Queen Campground.

Other campgrounds in the area include Baby Doe, May Queen, Tabor, Father Dyer, Printer Boy, Belle of Colorado, Molly Brown, Matchless and Sugar Loafing’. An overflow camping area is also near the Matchless boat ramp.
