Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area campground has 68 campsites (with water/electric hookups) located between the Atlantic Ocean and Intercoastal Waterway. There are two camping areas – the Beach Camping Area (1-34) and the Riverside Camping Area (35-68). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers, and RV’s (40 feet maximum). Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, and grill.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($) and dump station. There is also a comfort station, laundry, picnic area, boat ramp, interpretive exhibit and beach at the park.

Outdoor recreation activities include boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, biking, beach combing and picnicking. There’s also a variety of wildlife to see here.

Stayed 3 nights, late May. Beautiful. Restrooms are dated, beachside dump station can be difficult. Will be heading there again. Only draw back, no shade, at all, anywhere.
Reservations are very hard to make on the ocean side. It is always booked or just one night in the middle of the week is available. The same people hoard the campsites. Making reservations a year in advance is rediculous. Let us seniors have a site every now and then for a week or weekend.

Yes there are many people with to much $$$, they will reserve the spot over and over for a just in case they feel like it, Sebastian inlet is the worst, any given time its suppose to be full yet there are 8 maybe 15 empty spots that i am told they were prepaid for even though they were a no show they have to leave them empty, this system has to be Changed, if some one does not show and or makes NO phone call, keep their money and let some one else enjoy..

We are native Floridians and have only been able to get a campsite at Gamble Rogers one time for two nights. Beautiful campground but its a shame we can never get a site. People are booking a year in advance. I’ve even tried that. No Luck. Always booked. Florida residents should get a chance to book a week once in awhile to be able to enjoy our own State.

I like the idea of giving residents the ability to book one week in advance. I believe other state reservations do something similar. You can also try our campsite availability alerts (Campsite Assist) to get notified if/when a campsite becomes available (through cancellation) on the dates you want to camp. The alert is sent via text and email with a link to try and reserve the open site before someone else does.
I get 2 weeks each year beachfront by making my reservations 11 months out and being open to different dates.
The reservation system is HORRIBLE! I used to love you going camping – now, you can’t even do that without reservations to places constantly booked and often by people who don’t ever show up. I just go to places without cell coverage now. It solves a lot of problems! The reservation system should only be used for large groups or long stays.
You are SO right!!!!!! How do they have a monopoly on taking reservations. Reserve America is a monopoly and that’s supposed to be against the law. My opinion.
It’s disheartening to read the previous reviews on this campground that aren’t actually critiquing the facility but rather complaining about how difficult it is to secure a campsite. Or…perhaps that is the best complimenting review you can leave?!? Yes, it’s difficult to get a site and I’m thankful each and every time I’m able to secure one because this campground is stunningly beautiful.
