The Salt Springs Recreation Area has 159 campsites and features a spectacular natural mineral spring in the Ocala National Forest. The campground has 106 standard sites (electric and full hookups available), and 54 tent-only (walk-to) campsites are also available and are a short walk from the parking area.

Campground Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, a camp store, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a boat ramp and canoe rentals available. Cell service is fair in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes swimming in the springs, fishing, snorkeling, hiking, biking and boating. In the early 1900s, many people came to the spring, believing it had medicinal healing powers. Today’s visitors will find Salt Springs gushes forth 52 million gallon of water daily at a constant 74° Fahrenheit. Lake George and Lake Kerr are also nearby.

    No dock or anywhere to keep your boat for camping unless you want to have to take it out every night. Was told by one employee to anchor off in the middle of the river and swim back to shore but even still the boat could be towed away. Many other issues that made our whole vacation very unpleasant.
