Amity Recreation Area is one of the most popular parks next to J. Storm Thurmond Lake. It does not have any campsites but it does have 3 group picnic shelters that are reservable from April 1 through September 30.

  • The Catfish Cove Group Picnic Shelter (Site 1) can have up to 50 people and 41 vehicles.
  • Bass Alley Group Picnic Shelter (Site 2) can have up to 50 people and 46 vehicles.
  • Blue Gill Way Picnic Shelter (Site 3) can accommodate up to 50 people and 18 vehicles.

Park amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, a boat ramp, comfort station, 7 beaches, playgrounds, sports field, boat ramp, courtesy dock and fishing pier. Cell service is also good in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Mistletoe State Park, Winfield, Petersburg and Ridge Road.
