Algonac State Park includes 2 campgrounds (Riverfront and Wagon Wheel) situated along the shoreline of the St. Clair River.  Riverfront has 220 campsites (110 with electric hookups) and Wagon Wheel has 87 campsites. Group campsites and cabins are also available.

The campground is open year round and has drinking water, flush toilets, showers and a sanitation dump station. Firewood is also available for sale. The campsites offer little privacy and generally can accommodate trailers or RVs from 40 to 48 feet in length. Each site has a table, fire ring and grate.

The park will be renovating the Riverfront sites in 2024 and will be closed for much of the spring and summer months. The renovation will convert many sites to full hookups and the camp roads/parking spurs will be repaved.

Algonac State Park – Area Recreation

Algonac State Park also has an archery range, trap range, picnic area, volleyball courts and a large nature area with hiking trails to view the wildlife. Other outdoor recreation includes biking and fishing. And if you’re in to freighter spotting, then you’ll enjoy watching freighters from around the world cruise by on the St. Clair River.

Check out Grand Haven State Park if you’re traveling west and would like to camp on the shores of Lake Michigan.

We are planning a trip to Michigan from Arkansas and would like the opportunity to camp at the river’s edge where we could see the freighters. Your website says the campsites are a little tight. My question is this. We have a 38 foot fifth wheel camper and before making reservations want to know if these campsites can handle our size camper?

    • Hi Gus,

We changed our description a little on Algonac State Park to clarify that the sites offer little privacy, but you do actually have some good room between neighbors. Most sites can accommodate a vehicle + trailer, or RV from 40 to 48 feet. The campsites on the waterfront are good for up to about 46 feet. Click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing, size of sites and to make a reservation. And have fun freighter spotting!

Does this state park offer the ability and space for an RV and a tent to be on the same site? We have a rather large group going and spread out around the entire campground, but we didn’t reserve our spot in time with the group and have not seen anyone cancel recently. Looking to maybe just bring a small tent for me, my wife, and child.

    • Hi Brandon,
Yes – you can have a trailer or RV + a tent on the same campsite at Algonac State Park – provided there is room at your campsite. Most sites are large and have plenty of room.

I HAVE A MOTORHOME BUT NEED A PLACE TO STAY I JUST STARTED A DIVORCE HOW MUCH TO STAY THERE ASI AM SHORT ON FUNDS

    • Hi Richard,
Sorry to hear about your divorce. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing and make a reservation at Algonac State Park. A tent campsite goes for $22 per night.

  4. If able can you pull into a site? Looking at site 220 and would like to point the RV front door towards the water

    • Hi Luis, Algonac State Park campsite #220 is not a pull through (back in only), so you wouldn’t be able to maneuver it so that the front door is facing the water. Only campsites 74, 75, 94, 117, 118, 150, 151 and 195 are pull through.

  5. Does site 163 have 30 amp hookup?
