Jay Cooke State Park campground has 83 single-family campsites (21 with electric hookups) for tents, trailers and RVs (up to 60 feet). There are also 4 backpack sites, 3 walk-in sites, 2 group sites and 5 cabins. The campground has modern restrooms (showers and flush toilets), drinking water and a dump station (seasonal). Each campsite has a table, grill and fire ring. The campground is open year-round, but only 12 campsites are available in the winter (5 with electric hookups).

Jay Cooke State Park offers one of the best places for backpackers, bikers, horseback riders and skiers to hook up with the Willard Munger State Trail. It’s also a great place to view wildflowers and the fall colors as you stroll around the trails throughout the park. And don’t forget to take a walk over the swinging bridge! Other recreational activities include, boating, canoeing, fishing, rafting, tubing and fishing on the St. Louis River and visiting the gorge at Thomson Dam.

Sandy Lake campground is another nice option with 59 campsites along the shores of Big Sandy Lake. It is about 57 miles from Jay Cooke State Park. And you may also like Savanna Portage State Park.
