Fort Kearny State Recreation Area campground has 120 single-family campsites set among large cottonwood trees that shade much of the campground area.

There are 94 with electric hookups and 26 standard sites (without hookups). The camping area is also close to the sandpit lakes.Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. There’s also a disc golf course, playground and picnic areas.

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area – Activities & Info

Outdoor recreation includes swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice here and particularly during the springs when the largest concentration of sandhill cranes and waterfowl swoop on in to the central Platte River Valley.
