Arroyo Hondo Campground is located in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area and has 5 campsites along the banks of the Rio Grande. All sites are first-come, first-serve. Campsites are best suited for tents, but can also accommodate trailers and RVs.  Each campsites has a table, fire ring and grill. All campsites have great views and access to the Rio Grande. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Cell service is fair in the area.

Arroyo Hondo – Area Recreation

Outdoor activities here include fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, ATVing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The beautiful mountain town of Taos is about an hours drive from the campground.

Eagle Nest Lake State Park is another option and is about 46 miles via highway 64.  It has 19 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Other campgrounds in the area include Pilar, Rio Bravo and Lone Juniper.
