Black Canyon Campground has 36 single-family campsites and is situated in a beautiful forest of pine, aspen and fir trees in the Santa Fe National Forest.

Campsites 1-6 are tent-only (walk-to) campsites. The others (7-36) are reservable from early May to mid October and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs.  Double campsites can accommodate up to 16 people. Campground roads and parking spurs are paved. Each campsite also has a table, lantern post, fire ring and grate.

Amenities include vault toilets and trash collections. Water is not available (so bring your own). Electric hookups are not available. The nearest dump station ($) is just up the road a mile at Hyde Memorial State Park. Cell service is poor in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, OHVing, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Black Canyon trailhead is located at the campground. Winter sports include both nordic and alpine skiing. The town of Santa Fe is also just 7 miles away and is famous for its cultural heritage, art galleries and museums.
