  1. Mark Wood says:

What is the cost to rent a trailer sight near the beach

    • Hi Mark,
It costs $39 per night to rent a trailer site at Nevada Beach campground. It is a very popular campground and may already booked for the summer. You can go to Recreation.gov to check availability, pricing and make a reservation.

  2. How far in advance can you reserve a campsite?

    • Hi Shannon,

Nevada Beach campground is open mid-May to mid October. Reservations can be made six months prior to the day of your arrival. For example, if you’re arriving July 1, the first day you can make reservations is on Jan 1 (8AM PST). We have a link (Make A Reservation) on the Nevada Beach Campground page.

  3. Cynthia says:

Hi, if I wanted to reserve a campsite for July 4th, what would be your recommendation for the best shot of getting a reservation?

    Thank You!

    • Hi Cynthia,

For Nevada Beach campground, you can make reservations 6 months in advance of the day of arrival. So if you plan on arriving July 1, the first day you could try and make a reservation is January 1 at 10AM EST. Nevada Beach campground will sell out quickly (within minutes) for arrival days around July 4th. I recommend you visit the Nevada Beach campground page about 30 minutes prior to pick out a few sites, then click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button (about 10 minutes before reservations open) to be routed to Recreation.gov. Choose your site and have everything in the cue ready to go. At exactly at 10AM EST (7AM PST) click on the ‘check availability’ button. If you don’t get your site, quickly check other sites that are available and click on one before they get taken. It’s also a good idea to have a few people trying at once to increase your chances. Good luck!

  4. Debbie Alferez says:

When do you release the availability slots?

    • Hi Debbie,

Nevada Beach Campground opens up reservations 6 months prior to your day of arrival. In other words, if you wanted to start your camping trip on July 10, the first day you could try and make a reservation is on Jan 10. Keep in mind that with the recent partial federal government shutdown, Recreation.gov is advising that reservations may not be honored.

  5. ron padilla says:

does it open today for reservations

    • Hi Ron,
That depends on what day you want to arrive at Nevada Beach campground. The reservations are on a 6-month rotating window. For example, if you wanted to arrive on August 1, then the first day reservations open for that day is February 1 at 11am Eastern Time (which is 7am PST time). Best to try and get a reservation as soon as the reservation window opens as Nevada Beach is popular in the summer.

  6. susan spier says:

I have a 25 ft truck with a lance camper and my friend has a Subaru Outback. Is site #15 big enough to park both? Could you park the Subaru on a diagonal in front of the truck or perpendicular to the truck instead of one in front of the other? The site says 38 ft. Or is it wide enough to park side by side?

    • Hi Susan,
Campsite #15 at Nevada Beach is a nice large site and can accommodate your truck and lance camper (side by side). You may be able to park the Subaru Outback diagonally across the front – however, Nevada Beach campground regulations allow for only two vehicles per site (including trailer and towing vehicle). You’ll need to check with the park ranger / camp host on overflow parking.

  7. I see no mention of pets. Are they allowed and is there a per campsite limit for dogs? I have 3.

    • Hi Gail,
Thanks for pointing that out. Pets (on a leash) are permitted on a portion of Nevada Beach, as well as in the campground. They are not allowed in the picnic areas near the water. We’ve added this information to the campground page.

  8. Lisa Schenzel says:

What is the largest campsite. Is there group camping spot still. My daughter’s each have a 40 ft. Trailer

    • Hi Lisa,

Nevada Beach campground has campsites that can accommodate vehicles (including a tow vehicle) from 30 to 60 feet. Most are in the 45-55 foot range. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check the size of each site, availability, pricing and make a reservation.

  9. James White says:

Is there a place to dump portable dump containers? Basically dumping the shower/sink water from the trailer.

    • Hi James,
We’re not sure if Nevada Beach campground has a dump area for portable containers (shower/sink water, etc.). Might be best to check at campground: 775-588-5562

  10. l martin says:

once you see an available camp site how do you res it for the max 2 weeks it will not let you res that long?

    • Hi, Not sure why the Recreation.gov reservation will not allow you to book a reservation for up to 14 days at Nevada Beach campground. Perhaps Recreation.gov only allows reservations for up to 7 nights. I recommend you call Recreation.gov directly at: 1-877-444-6777

  11. If you can only book sites 6 months in advance how are all the 4th of July sites booked and it is not even January 1st yet?

    • Hi Dave,
What probably happened is that people book now for 10-14 days in advance – overlapping the 4th of July weekend. I did check Rec.gov for Nevada Beach campground and some sites have not yet been released. I’d give Recreation.gov a call to confirm that other sites will soon be released in the coming days: 877-444-6777. If you do get shutout, try our Campsite Assist tool. It will alert you (via text and email) the moment someone cancels a site for the dates you want to stay.

  12. I would like to speak to the ranger at Nevada Beach. Is there a number I can call?
    Thank you!

    • Hi John, The campground is closed and the district ranger station is currently offer ‘virtual’ support via phone, but here’s a couple of phone numbers you can try for Nevada Beach Campground / Ranger:
      775 588-5562. (Campground)
530 543-2600 (US Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit)

  13. Gwen Elaine Pellecchia says:

Where is the nearest dump station we can use while staying here please.

    • HI Gwen,
The three closest RV dump stations to Nevada Beach campground that I know of is Indian Creek Campground (Markleeville), D.Ll Bliss State Park (Meeks Bay), and Camp Richardson Resort (South Lake Tahoe). All have a fee.

      • Alan K Maxwell says:

Zepher Cove Campground just up thre road has a dump station for a fee. So does City of Lake Tahoe Campground… althought they do not always allow dumping without a stay. Depends who you ask.

      • Hi Alan,
Thanks for info on dump stations near Nevada Beach campground.
