Oak Fork Overview
Oak Fork campground has 49 single-family standard campsites and is located on the southeastern shore of beautiful Timothy Lake in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Eight of the campsites (A to H) are hike-in (tent only). Campsite A is about 300 feet from parking lot with the others a bit further. There are also 6 cabins for rent (campsites 3, 17, 18, 27, 39 and 41).
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Most have great views of the Timothy Lake and Mt. Hood. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. There’s also an amphitheater, visitor center, boat ramp and picnic/day-use area. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Generators are also allowed, but not during quiet hours (9pm – 8am). Cell service is poor in the area.
Oak Fork Area Recreation
The area offers incredible views of the surrounding forest, miles of hiking trails and great fishing in creeks and lakes. Other outdoor recreation includes swimming, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, mountain biking, picnicking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing.
Other campgrounds in the area include Gone Creek, Pine Point, Hoodview, and Little Crater Lake.

Although the campsites were nice and the lake was beautiful, the campground managers were so over the top rigid and aggressive and over zealous in enforcing petty rules, it made an ordinarily happy week a drag. I know that the 21 or so people who came during that week at different times will never camp at this campsite again due to their harassment at every turn, I know that I won’t. We in the camp dubbed them the ‘camp Nazis’ and the ‘Fun Police.’ I strongly advise against choosing this campsite.
I had a similar experience hiking through the area on the 13-mile around the lake trail. Truly over the top, verging on harassment. I feel that the reviewer from 2012 did not exaggerate in any way. I wonder if it is the same couple that managed to stay on all these years despite ruining the experience for so many in this beautiful place. They are truly so off-putting I surprised if they managed to maintain their positions there year after year.

Oak Fork has been remodeled and campsite renumbered.
Thanks for the heads up Dennis! We will plan on re-shooting the campground to get new/accurate campsite photos.
Has anyone stayed at one of the 8 cabins at Timothy Lake (Oak Fork)? I cannot seem to be able to locate any photos of the cabins.

I stayed in cabin #17 in August 2017. The cabin was brand new and was nice and clean but very basic…no lights, just good beds and a table with 2 chairs. Not sure why they didn’t put bigger windows in the cabins to give more light. I had no problems with the campground managers…they were very friendly when they checked me in, and I didn’t really see them after that.
this website still has not been updated with new a new map and pictures. Come on, you acknowledged this error 8/17. I you want me to take new pics and send them to you, let me know.

And you’re correct – we still have not scheduled a photographer to reshoot the campground and update the photos. We will take down the campground page until we do – hopefully later this year.
Great campsites. Campground managers are great. Don’t let past comment hinder making reservations. Good trout fishing and ton lof Crawdad.
Cabin are nice. Bunk beds queen beds. Sleeps 5. Table and chairs. No electricity, no light no heater. No cooking inside. Better than a tent if raining and cold.
