Viento State Park – Area Recreation

Viento has a day-use area with easy access to the Columbia River. Windsurfers flock here because it has some of the best conditions in the Gorge. “Viento” is the Spanish word for “wind” in case you didn’t know.  Other outdoor recreation includes picnicking, hiking, biking, fishing and wildlife viewing. You can also hike or bike ride the historic Columbia River Highway (no longer a highway). This is now a 1-mile trail from Viento to Starvation creek.

Memaloose State Park is about 17 miles to the east and also along the Columbia River. Moss Creek Campground is also nice (north of the Columbia River).
