Bay View State Park Campground has 76 campsites and is located on Padilla Bay offering spectacular views of the San Juan Islands. All campsites can be reserved. There are 46 tent sites, 29 partial-hookup sites and 6 cabins. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($) 2 restrooms and 6 showers. There’s also a group beach shelter (175 person capacity) with 2 large BBQs. Overflow parking is available. Firewood and ice are available for sale at the campground. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill.
Campsites 1 to 9 (for trailers and RVs, but no hookups) will give you the best chance for magnificent views of Padilla Bay and the San Juan Islands. All campsites are back-in and maximum size is 50 feet. Campsites 10-30 (back-in hookup sites / 40 foot maximum) provide a view of a nice grassy area where the kids can play to their hearts content. Campsites 31-76 can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (from 25-40 feet).
Each of the Bay View State Park cabins can accommodate up to 4 people. Each has a double bed and two single bunks. Pets are permitted in the cabins for an additional fee. Smoking is not allowed. Bed linens are not provided. Cooking is allowed in the kitchenettes. All cabins have electricity, but no restrooms/showers.
Bay View State Park Area Recreation
Bay View State Park has 1,285 feet of saltwater shoreline on Padilla Bay, one of 28 existing national marine estuaries. Also (on clear days), you can see the Olympic Mountains to the west and Mt. Rainier to the south. Outdoor activities include boating (boat ramp a few blocks away), canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, sail boarding, swimming, waterskiing, beach combing, metal detecting and wildlife viewing.
Larrabee State Park and Deception Pass State Park are both about 15 miles away.

Can you make reservations?
Hi Sarah, Yes you can make camping reservations at Bay View State Park. Go to our camping page HERE and click on the Make A Reservation link to check availability/make a reservation.
We rented cabin 3 for 2 nights. Are the cabins heated and have electricity? Also, I have seen on some reviews that you have to pay to take a shower? Is this true? Is there water close to the cabins for drinking and cooking?

Are there water faucets nearthe cabins for drinking and cooking? What is the price of the coin operates showers?

We reserved the double site it was too small for our rv’s even though they told us they would fit with extra room. Tried to cancel our reservations an they said no it’s a big disappointment that bay view state park and Washington state would miss represent an pull this it’s disgusting
How much is it to stay a week? We have a travel trailer that’s 19 feet.

Love this park for its location! Close to the San Juan ferry, Whidbey Island, Bellingham hiking trails, Anacortes Forest trails. We make the trip over from the Methow Valley to get a dose of civilization!
First time that we’ve stayed at Bay View State Park. It wasn’t the nicest of weekends… very wet and cold with high winds. The water was turned off at the site for winter, but the ranger was helpful and pointed us to where we could top our fresh water tank there at the park. It was very handy to have a dump station at the park with a hose to flush the tanks as well.
It is a smaller park, but we had direct access to the beach, the Bay View Shoreline Trail and several other good hikes. Quick and easy access to Whidbey, Anacortes, and Bellingham so it makes a good home base for several days of activities.
It’s a great state park… would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a smaller foot print with good access to the surrounding cities/towns. The guests, ranger, support staff, and camp host were all tremendously helpful and friendly!
Is there an additional parking lot for extra vehicles that don’t fit on a campsite?

Yes, there is overflow parking for extra vehicles at Bay View State Park campground.
We stayed here on June 6, 2022. The trailer campsites are in a poor state of repair. Many have standing water and the ground is damp due to lack of gravel. Our picnic table had a partly melted top and was so unstable on the eroded slope it was not usable. The tent sites were very wet and sloping. It looks as if Washington State Parks and Recreation has totally neglected this park for several years. The campsites need ditching and a load of gravel each and levelling. The fees are expensive ($40.00/night) plus a Discovery Pass, so it is definitely not worth it to stay at this park.
On the other hand, the campground host was very friendly and the restrooms were spotless, which was under her control. The poorly maintained infrastructure is not.
I will be writing to the State to voice my concerns.
