    Camper In Training

I’m looking for the best redwoods campgrounds for a camper van. Planning on doing things in both the area of the Avenue of the giants as well as the northern coastal redwoods- Visiting this September.

    Hi Magen,

Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! Here’s a few other (Coastal/Redwood Forest) parks/campgrounds in the area of the Avenue of the Giants that would be good for camper van camping:

Hidden Springs , Burlington and Albee Creek Campgrounds at Humboldt Redwoods State Park (right at the Avenue of the Giants)

Richardson Grove State Park (about 32 miles south of Humboldt/Avenue of the Giants)

Standish Hickey State Recreation Area (about 43 miles south)

Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park (about 43 miles north/east)

Elk Prairie and Gold Bluffs Beach campgrounds at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park (95 miles north – on the coast)

It has been a couple of decades now but the Elk Prairie campsite was beautiful and local to many wonderful sites and hikes.
