  1. We camped here for 2 nights and had lots of fun boating, hiking around the lake. Camp site is surrounded by huge pine trees which give enough shade. Kids loved this place.

  2. David Jordan says:

Is Dog Town Camp Ground open currently? Looking to get away and do a little fishing.

    • HI David,
Dogtown Lake campground is not open yet, but we just heard that USFS campgrounds in Arizona will open May 20. Might be a good idea to call the campground line to double check: 928 699-1239.

I have a reservation in a couple of weeks and am wondering if campfires are allowed in the provided fire rings? Also is it ok to bring in our own wood?

    • Hi Joe,
Currently campfires are not allowed at Dogtown Lake due to fire restrictions. Those will most likely continue to be in place for the foreseeable future.

      • joenem@cox.net says:

Thank you so much for your quick response. What about a portable propane fire pit? are those allowed?

      • Not positive if they will allow portable propane fire pits. I do know you can use propane power stoves for cooking though. You may want to try giving the campground a quick call. Hopefully they will pick up: 928 699-1239

  4. We will be coming up over the 4th of July. We will be in a big rig towing a vehicle and a tent with 8 people but the max vehicle is one. Is there any parking lot that the second vehicle for the people coming and camping in the tent? Thank You

    • Hi Laura,

Yes – overflow parking (free) is available at Dogtown Lake Campground. I’m also under the impression that you can have a 2nd vehicle in at your campsite for an extra fee.

  5. hello, we will be at dog town campground for fathers day weekend. i am aware of the fire restrictions,, but since there are fire rings at the campsites are fires allowed??

    • Hi Chris,
The Forest Service usually errors on the side of caution for Dogtown Lake and other campgrounds in the area regrading campfires (at campsite/rings). Chances are that fires will be allowed in early June, but that could change if any wind picks up. I recommend checking with the Kaibab National Forest Service office a few days before you go: (928) 635-8200

  6. June Plys says:

Will Dogtown lake ne open for camping July 13th thur the 16? We alredy made reservations

    • Hi June,
Because of the extreme heat and dry conditions, they have closed down the entire Kaibab National Forest (all campgrounds – including Dogtown Lake). I am not sure when the fire restrictions will be lifted and the campground reopened. You can monitor the status at the US Forest Service website.
