Giant Gap Campground has 30 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs on the north shore of Sugar Pine Reservoir in the beautiful Tahoe National Forest.  It’s a perfect basecamp to spot gnomes who are said to live in the forest. The campground has both single and double campsites, drinking water, snappy vault toilets and a friendly campground host that happens to sell firewood. Each campsite has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill.

Giant Gap – Area Recreation

In addition to gnome spotting, other outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. Hiking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing are also popular activities. The Manzanita Day Use Area is also nearby and next to the lake. A boat ramp is available a few miles away at Sugar Pines.

Other campgrounds in the area include Shirttail Creek, Forbes Creek (Group) and Big Reservoir. If you’re heading down the hill to the valley, you may want to check out Beals Point Campground. It’s own Folsom Lake and has 69 campsites.
