Pinyon Flat campground has 19 large single-family campsites and is located in a beautiful high-desert landscape with views of Santa Rosa Mountain in the San Bernardino National Forest. This is a little known and quiet campground that is close to popular hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.

The campground is first-come, first-serve and has vault toilets (no water). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite  also has a table, fire ring and grate.

Pinyon Flat – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation activities include picnicking, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, stargazing and wildlife viewing. The trailhead for the Sawmill Trail is across Highway 74 and is popular for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and OHVing (the first 5.5 miles).  Hikers, bikers and horseback riders can continue to the other 5 miles to the peak of Santa Roa Mountain. The total elevation gain is 4,300 feet from the trailhead.  You can also drive 29 miles down the mountain to Palm Springs for some shopping, eats, golf and other fun.

You may also be interested in Hurkey Creek campground (about 18 miles away) and Dripping Springs Campground (about 37 miles away). Oak Grove campground is also about 37 miles away.
