Soquel Campground has 11 primitive campsites along Willow Creek in the Bass Lakes Ranger District of the Sierra National Forest. Pine and fir trees provide good shade and the area is also know for the Nelder Grove of giant sequoias.

Campsites can be reserved and will accommodate tents and smaller trailers/RVs (up to 20 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.

The campground is generally open mid May to mid September. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Water is not available. A camp host is also on site and sells firewood.

Other campgrounds in the area include Texas Flats, Kelty Meadow, Chilkoot, Crane Valley, Recreation Point, Cedar Bluff, Lupine and Forks (Sierra).

Soquel – Area Recreation & Activities

Trails can be found off Highway 41 west of the campground, including the 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail and the Miami Motorcycle Trails, a network of forest roads and trails for dirt bikes and off-road vehicles. The Shadow of the Giants, a grove of giant sequoias, is popular 1-mile hike just a short drive north of the campground. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Yosemite National Park is also a popular day trip from the area. The historic logging train at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is a little closer to the campground.

  1. Camp host, Mike, was fabulous, checking in daily and providing information, suggestion, and even extra firewood. Campsites were well maintained and quiet and bathrooms were clean and well ventilated!
