  1. Not much hiking without being on private property. A load mine right next to the campground is opening this summer. Watch for new fencing & signs. Trespassing is both illegal and dangerous!!

I camped here in 2017 and loved it here. It was so quiet, serene and pristine. It’s really close to Nederland and Boulder one way and to Rocky Mountain National Park the other way. The park rangers were super friendly and put me in a spot away from the noisy RV’s, which was nice. They also let me borrow a sleeping bag when it got super cold and then let me take it home with me afterwards. I doubt they’re there this year due to Covid but it really is a one of a kind campsite given its great location, low cost and first come, first serve spots. There’s nothing worse than a campground that is booked out 6+mos and I appreciate them reserving some spots for the spontaneous travelers. I have camped all over the Western US in years since and yet I still remember this place vividly. I am heading back in a couple months and am so excited to revisit. The only negative I have is that the did not allow hammocks on their trees, even with tree straps. Idk if that’s still a rule but it would be awesome if not!!!
