State Forest State Park North Michigan Campground is located on the north and south sides of North Michigan Reservoir and offers incredible views of the lake and surrounding Rocky Mountains. There are 48 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs, as well as 6 cabins.

Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. You can stay up to 14 days during a 45 day period (and they can be consecutive). Six people and two vehicles  per campsite, pets are okay (on leash) and generators are permitted from 10AM to 10PM. Firewood is also available for sale.

The North side has 13 campsites (with little or no shade) and six cabins. Sites 211, 212, 213 are for tents only. Amenities include drinking water and 4 restrooms with flush toilets.

The South side section has 35 campsites strung out along the shore of the reservoir. Five of those are pull-through sites. Campsites in this section are much more shaded and will accommodate larger RVs. There is also water and restrooms with flush toilets. Campsites 215, 216, 217, 219, 221, 222, and 225 are for tents only.

The campground does take reservations from mid May to late September. Non-reserved sites are available on a first come/first serve basis during the summer and winter (weather permitting).  Campers should contact the park for current conditions and campground closures.

Other campgrounds at the park include Bockman, Crags, Mendenhall, North Park and Ranger Lakes.

North Michigan – Area Recreation

North Michigan Reservoir has 2 boat ramps, boating, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. No swimming is permitted. Other outdoor activities in the area include backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, horseback riding, hunting and wildlife viewing. You can also enjoy ice fishing, snow shoeing, snow sledding and snowmobiling during the winter season.

The ultimate in rugged Colorado, State Forest State Park offers visitors 71,000 acres of forest, jagged peaks, alpine lakes, wildlife and miles of trails. The park stretches along the west side of the Medicine Bow Mountains and into the north end of the Never Summer Range.
