Grandfather Mountain State Park as 13 (primitive) back country campsite situated along a trail system in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

All campsites require an advanced reservation/permit. Trailheads are near 3,800 feet in elevation and top out at Calloway Peak at 5,946 feet. Camping is permitted in the designated areas only. There is no dispersed camping (camping outside a designated site) on the mountain. All camping regulations apply to hammock campers. No facilities (toilets or water) are available, but each campsite has a tent platform and fire ring.  Please pack in/out all gear, food and trash.

Grandfather Mountain State Park showcases a stunning mountain known for severe weather and challenging terrain that has hikers scrambling along cliffs, gripping cables, and climbing up ladders.
