Trillium Lake Campground has 64 single-family campsites and is located right next to the lake in a beautiful mixed conifer forest. The campground offers views of Mt. Hood. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 40 feet). Some of the sites are tent only and there are a few double sites. Group camping is also available.
Campsites 1, 9, 10, 12, 13, 29, 31, 38, 45, 46 and 47 in the Trillium area are walk-in (first-come, first-serve) campsites. Also campsites 58-64 in the dam area are walk-in campsites. All other sites are reservable. Check in is 2pm and check out is 12pm.
Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. There is also an amphitheater and picnic/day use area.
The small town of Government Camp is just 4 miles away and has a general store, shops, restaurants, lodging and restaurants.
In addition to camping, hiking trails range from a fairly flat loop around the lake to spurs of varying length and difficulty. This is a popular area that receives a lot of use. A sledding hill is across the street at Snow Bunny Sno-Park, and there are additional trails there.
Trillium Lake – Area Recreation
The campground is located in the Mt. Hood National Forest and offers a variety of outdoor recreation. Visitors can enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, picnicking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. In the winter you can also enjoy the Snow Bunny Sno-Park located across the street from the campground.
Other campgrounds in the area include Still Creek, Pine Point and Frog Lake.

Are there any small stores near by the lake or close?

What does walk up campsite mean?

A ‘walk up’ campsites is not reservable and is first-come, first-serve. Those sites are available for campers that come to Trillium without a reservation. However, most are usually taken on weekends and many days during the summer.

I would like to know a website for paying the$ 5.00 parking violation I received. I had no cash on last fridays trip.

Is there a place close by to the Trillium lake campground to shower? Pay showers are fine.

Unfortunately there are no showers at or near Trillium Lake campground. Perhaps someone may have an idea and can post a comment.
With the popularity of camping this summer, how are the Trillium FCFS sites filling before the weekend? All reserve sites are full through end of season, so we’re planning which day to arrive for better chance at FCFS. Thx

We’re finding that all first-come, first-serve campsites are very competitive with the ‘Covid-Cabin’ fever going on. Trillium Lake’s first-come, first-serve campsites are also very popular. I recommend arriving Sun-Thu, and no latter than 7:30am on arrival day if possible. There is generally a line of campers/vehicles waiting for the FCFS sites to open up. Best of luck!
What are your tips for getting one fo the first come first serve sites?

Trillium Lake campground is very popular over the summer and especially around weekends. Your best bet to try and get a first-come, first-serve site is to arrive in the morning on a Sun, Mon, Tue or Wed. Check out is noon, but others will be getting in line and/or checking in with ranger/camp ranger around 8am or soon after. Best of luck!
what is the best reserved site# for views of Mount Hood?

What time is check out for individual campsites for the 2021 summer season? Also, if I arrive a day late, will my site be held until the following day at check out? Thank you very much.

Check in at Trillium (Lake) Campground is 2pm and check out is 12pm. They generally will only hold your site until 8am the next day. The campground phone number is 503-630-5721 if you think you won’t arrive until later the next day.
We have a 14’ teardrop trailer (including hitch length) and a 18’ pickup truck. Do I need an 18’ space with 2 vehicles, or a 32’ (end to end) space? I see some that are listed as two vehicles, but only 20’ long. Can I use those, or do I need 32’ ?

It depends if you can park your trailer and vehicle side-by-side in the campsite. If not, then you’ll need a longer space than 18′. Most of the shorter sites have wide enough parking spurs to park side-by-side.
Do you have any site favorites for this campground? I wish we could see more of the campsites other than just the driveway on most of the pictures.

Thanks for your input/request. We will try and reshoot Trillium Lake campsites later in 2022 so that they show more of the camping area.
What are the largest permissible tent dimensions for a campsite spot?
Does this vary by each spot or is it fairly fixed?
Are the campsite plots fairly flat or uneven?

It varies by campsite depending on how large the site is as well as the number of trees in a campsite. Most sites are level. You can also click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button and check individual site information on Rec.gov. Click on each campsite #, then the “allowable equipment” link.
It says check in is at 2pm if I have a reservation but I can make it by 2pm, how late can I check in?

You can check in by 7am the day after your arrival. After that the camp host may release the campsite.
