camp site with electricity and water

  2. Tamala Jones says:

We are thinking of getting married there. My husband loves that place. Do you have a place that would accomadate 30 people?

    • Hi Tamala,
First off – congratulations on your upcoming marriage!
I know there is a day-use/picnic area next to the lake. Pretty sure it has enough room for 30+ people (group gathering). I recommend calling the campground/park to get some details. You may also need permission. The number we have for the park is: 936 344-6205

  3. Are two tents allowed per site? And two cars as well?

    • Hi Colleen,
The standard single-family campsites can have up to 8 people and 2 vehicles. Rec.gov lists each of the standard sites (and group sites) as having just 1 vehicle (maximum) per site, but that appears to be an error. Most sites will also fit two tents depending on the tent size.
There are also eight group sites (up to 25 people) and two double sites (maximum 16 people each) are also available.

  4. What’s going on with this campground in 2024? Heard it’s now under a different jurisdiction. Is it even open?

    • Hi Valarie,
Double Lake Recreation Area / Campground is open and taking reservations. Not sure about the jurisdiction change. As far as I know it is still under the National Forests & Grasslands in Texas (Supervisor’s Office Lufkin, Texas 75904 / Phone: 936-639-8501).

  5. Sally Carey says:

Used to tent there with family years ago. At tha time rv’s were put on one side of the lake and tenters, on the opposite side. It was the best, since the rv’s were noisy and in to generators, tv and party mode!!
Do you still adhere to that policy? Sure hope so! Everybody was happy!
Want to reserve a campsite just for a day, ( or 24hrs) however, you set up.

    • Hi Sally, It’s still that way. The sites without hookups are 1-23, 25, 27 and 28. Campsites 1-23 are on the opposite side of the lake from the campsites that have hookups (29-65). You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing and make a reservation.
