Lower Little Truckee Overview

Lower Little Truckee Campground Vault Toilet

Lower Little Truckee Campground has 15 campsites and is located on the banks of the river, about 12 miles north of Truckee.

The campground is generally open May through mid October. Campsites have good shade from a forest of lodgepole pine, aspen and juniper. Some campsites are waterfront.

Traffic from Highway 89 is lighter at night but you’ll still need to be able to sleep with traffic noise. Access to the river is a little difficult in some areas but it is a good place to get your feet wet and play with dogs. The campground host for this site is located at the Upper Little Truckee River campground.

Amenities include potable (drinking) water (spigots) and vault toilets. Cell service is good. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Up to 2 vehicles and 6 people per site. Parking pads range from 25 to 60 feet (most in the 30-40 foot range).

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, tubing, kayaking, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
