Silver Strand State Beach is a 7-mile isthmus that connects the city of Coronado and Imperial Beach and sits between the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay.

Campers will find 136 RV campsites in a ‘parking lot’ type campground right along Silver Strand State Beach. Only self-contained vehicles (up to 40 feet in length) are allowed to camp overnight.  Camping fees include the self-contatined vehicle plus 1 legally towed or towing vehicle per site. Car or tent camping is not allowed.  The campground has a dump station ($10 fee), showers and flush toilets. The park has a concession stand, equipment rentals, aquatic center, lifeguards, day use and picnic area.

The beach front camping sites are numbered 101 to 137, the 2nd row (from the beach) are 201 to 235, the 3rd row (from the beach) are 316 to 334, and the 4th row (along the road/highway – furthest from beach) are numbered 401 to 429 (sites 410 and 411 do not exist). Sites 101, 102, 201, 203, 301 and 302 are handicap campsites.

The surf here is relatively calm which is good for swimming, surf fishing, and some boogie boarding, but not for the serious surfer. The Silver Strand has a bike path stretching almost 10 miles to Coronado, which is also popular with runners, walkers, and inline skaters. Grunion runs can be witnessed at the state beach between March through August. The bay side and the nature preserve can be reached via three underground pedestrian tunnels from the ocean side parking lots. Because the water is warmer and calmer than the ocean, it is a popular area for sailing and swimming.

      Hi Richard,
You can view Silver Strand State Beach campsites photos on our page HERE. Not all of the campsites have been photographed because it is a ‘parking-lot’ style campground and all of the sites pretty much look the same. Only self-contained vehicles (RVS or trailers) are allowed. There is not car or tent camping permitted. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button on the Silver Strand State Beach campground page to check availability, rates and make a reservation.
