San Antonio Campground Santa Fe National Forest New Mexico

San Antonio Overview

San Antonio 018

San Antonio Campground is adjacent to the San Antonio River and has 29 single-family (mixed-used) campsites in the Santa Fe National Forest. There are 6 electric sites (sites 1-6) and group camping is also available.  Each campsite has a paved pad, as well as a table, fire ring and grills.

Our favorite San Antonio campsites are: 3, 5, 6, 16, 21, 22 and 23.

This popular campground is open from May through October and has drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from the campground host. Cell service is not available in the area. There’s also a paved walking trail along the river that provides access to fishing and wildlife viewing.

The area offers some of the finest mountain scenery in the Southwest and visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV riding, picnicking, canoeing, kayaking and wildlife viewing.

Fenton Lake State Park and Jemez Falls are two other campgrounds in the area. And you may also like Riana – Abiquiu Lake campground.

It’s been years since I’ve been to this camp site. Maybe 2007 or 08 but I’d like to take my wife for an over night. I know I need to reserve my spot on line. I guess the instructions on how to get in will be on line. The gate is locked and I remember someone stays on the camp site 24 hours so maybe they open the gate upon arrival. Hopefully the camp ground will open soon with social distance

    • Hi Bevo, You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button and be routed to Recreation.gov. Once on that site you can check availability, pricing and make a reservation. It is currently closed due to Covid-19, but should be opening up later in May. Have a great time!
