Lake Catherine State Park Overview
Lake Catherine State Park has 77 spacious campsites in a forested area on the shores of Lake Catherine in the beautiful Ouachita Mountain Region. It is also eight miles southeast of Hot Springs, AR.
The campground has 70 developed sites (47 with full hookups and 23 with water and electric), 6 primitive tent-only sites and 1 yurt. Many of these sites are on the lakeshore. There are also 20 fully equipped cabins available to rent. Each of the developed campsite also have a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.
The campground is open year round. Amenities include drinking water, modern restrooms, showers, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a full-service marina, marina store, boat launch/ramp, boat trailer parking, picnic area, playgrounds and group pavilion.
Lake Catherine State Park – Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, swimming, water sports, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also good in he area.

We stayed in cabin 15 which was a studio. We were surprised at the size and all the amenities. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, professional and helpful. In addition, I had an issue with some bolts needed on my boat trailer when we arrived. John in maintenance was awesome and quickly resolved the issue I had. I had brought a Boston Whaler and was able to dock it right next to the cabin. The Marina and its staff were also very helpful and they have ethanol free gas at the dock. The swim area is clean and the water very refreshing. The lake is beautiful along with the park with several hiking trails available. The ride into Hot Springs only takes about 20 minutes and we had two dinners in town one at The Wharf Steak and Seafood and the Colorado Grill which were very good. The Ohio Club is also an experience, and we had lunch there. Lastly, we found our stay quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be back.
I forgot to add one comment. It’s too bad the county the park is in only recycles cans. We are from Lafayette; LA and we took a full trash bag of plastics home to recycle. I can imagine how much ends up in the land fill just from the park alone.
